That's true, Davie. On the face of it, it seems that it WAS named after a person. Unless on the old maps they just stuck on a name that seemed likely. Spelling and accuracy were never strong points back then (I think they're better now, at least as far as maps are concerned).

I can't get this website address but if you Google "Talla Aquaduct" you'll get only one site and it's a really interesting one on the history of Edinburgh's water supply. Talla reservoir was finished in 1905 so the aquaducts we've talked about (Anna's, Lowrie's Den and the Bellman's) would be built about that time.
