There was some kind of presentation-thingy by Scottish Water at the Flotterstone yesterday.
They haven't got permission yet, but, if it's got to be, I don't think it'll be as bad as some feared.
In the short term, that field you see as you leave Belwood Road and turn right towards Embru, will be torn to bits to house the underground part of the structure. The above-ground bit (a single storey building, 100 metres lon and about 60 metres wide) will be in a part of the field already hidden behind trees and which will be further concealed by a massive embankment which will be planted with more trees.
It still means another bit o' green is lost....... But I suppose we do need water.... And it disnae sound quite as hideous as I'd expected. |

There was work of some kind going on there today when I passed, Dingle.
I assumed it was part of a plot to isolate Penicuik by having roadworks on the high road as well as on the low one. _________________

What is is with Cuikers!!!!
I'm always happy to blame the cahncil - don't get me wrong - but these persecution things are so common (I know you're joking) but they're a bit much really
* all money goes to Dalkeith (yeah, it looks like it - there isn't anywhere in Midlothian that looks that lush to me)
* Penicuik is neglected (well it ain't great, but it has some good stuff for the population size)
* nobody cares about us (well at one level maybe they don't need to overcare. We are blessed with a large number of people who are able to and want to do stuff for our community.)
and now
they want to isolate us (I actually don't blame them given the amount of moaning we do, Spry) . _________________

I'm glad you agree with me that it's part of a fiendish plot, Wen! _________________

Must be quite a devious plot, if it's kept him up so long past bedtime.
Of course Spry isn't a real Cuiker now, Wen - he's a lapsed one. |

What's the Terregles Trail? I've never done anything archaeology related, but would love to. I thought about studying it at uni, but never had good enough grades. |

Oh yes! I remember reading that, it was very intriguing. I am very interested in the local history, and all these strange things my fiance and I find in Penicuik Estate. We're still trying to figure out why there's a massive hidden viaduct in the estate. It's haunted too |

That's interesting, Edna. I had just heard a brief mention on the TV news. _________________

Anna and Soup --- this is the wrong thread for Terregles but as there isn't much more to report, I'll stick to this one.
I wrote to Sir Robert Clerk at the end of October to see if there had been any progress with the proposed archaeological search in the upper Serpentine Wood but I haven't heard from him yet. I'll send him a reminder.
I don't know if any of the members have been up that way recently. I'm wondering if there's any sign of ground disturbance. _________________

I go frequently since I live across the road from one of the entrances. But I haven't seen anything. I'll keep a look out next time I'm there - hopefully tomorrow if the weather stays dry. |
