15 year old boys change into oily hormone charged sloth-like creatures for a few years Sue.. they refuse to go shopping or be seen in public with their mother, they forget how to tidy up, brush their hair, clean their necks, they break out in spots, and yes the huffs and grunts set in rapidly, they are often spotted with their heads in the fridge or food cupboard . They spend hours in their bedroom and bathroom doing only what 15 yr old boys do. The good thing is though, they emerge several years later as grownup men who will hold your hand again in public, cry on your shoulder when they lose their first love , and introduce you to their girlfriends and music.... Its worth it..just be patient during this hibernation period, its worth it!!

Oh gawd...after reading that, TattieBogle, I think it's already started! Never mind him, I think I'll be the one hibernating until he emerges as some kind of human again!

Hey thats a great idea - hibernation for parents!! I use to tell my son that we were going to run away and not leave a forwarding address - that didnt work - We were going to sell up and not give him our forwarding address..... but hey everytime we were on the verge of doing it the boy we knew slinked out of his den and gave us a hug...then asked if he could get a driving lesson....now thats when the worries really start! ha ha . Give me daughters anyday!

Hmm, not sure about that, especially as my 17-year-old daughter's taking driving lessons at the moment!

My daughter learned to drive years before her husband did - and my son still doesn't drive.

Mind you, where he lives, they have buses.

here in NZ kids can get their restricted licence at 15.......far too young for those macho male hormone charged teenagers.  Girl teenagers spend most of their puberty preening and sulking. Mind you I can only go my own experience of teenage parenthood .. [2 daughters first then along came my teenage son..I wondered what had hit me!]
