Another vine-like plant entangles Zen's leg by surprise at roughly the same time.

"I see. I'm okay with that, if you don't want to endanger your friends and family." Liza smiles.
A shadow encompasses the group, blocking out the Sun from view.
"What is that?!" One of the people in the group says.
"Incoming!"

Rae sees a huge bird. It has black feathers and murderous eyes. It notices Rae floating upward, but does not bother with her, looking back to the much more filling morsels of meat that will be the traveling group, if they're not careful!

“I’d better fight this entity. I’m near them, and a vine might try something against me soon. Besides, I’m running out of oxygen,” Kalton thinks. Suddenly, out of the mound of snow he jumps. He swings a chain at a sturdy branch of a tree, and swings himself onto that branch. “It’s time to do some gardening…” he says, recalling the chain from around the branch and swinging it around, ready to attack, the vine from above.

The vines are torn out of the frozen ground with ease, but only because of Zen's improved strength, as the vines themselves are extremely strong. It was more a matter of the ground giving way than the vines themselves. They still grip at Zen's legs, but it's not much more than a nuisance since they're not chaining him to the ground anymore.
The hunter has much more trouble, since the vines are not damaged at all by his pocket knife, and he has no super strength to pull himself free.
Rae
The bird seems to understand sort of, but squawks in hunger. It is unable to speak in Vivuan, so it cannot reply...
But if it could, it would simply tell Rae that it is famished, and it would rather die in battle than starve for giving up a decent meal.
It dives at one of the adventurers hungrily. The adventurer jumps to the side out of the way, and another swings his sword out, causing the bird to have a huge gash along its side. It flies back into the air, weakened.
Nathan
The doctor quickly returns Nathan back to a regular lying down position, and gets other nurses and doctors in to administer painkillers and otherwise help the injured kid.

Kalton swings a chain at the vine that is attacking the hunter (at the part of the vine near the ground, perhaps also hitting the ground itself).
