Setting

>I guess the place is where to start. I live on Earth, in America, in a city named Latai. It’s fairly big, but it still has a lot of appeal because the people here are friendly. And I guess you already figured this out: This is where you’ll be starting out, too!<

>The setting is pretty modern. Okay, maybe a bit more high-tech. Nobody’s quite sure if there’s magic out there. I think there is, but if it’s there, it must be pretty subtle if there are people who don’t believe in it. I guess it’s just one of the mysteries of life. I still think there’s something other than science out there, but nobody in this town seems to know anything about how to harness it.<

>Oh, and it’s May 22nd. It’s warm, but comfortable with a cool breeze. It’s good picnic weather!<

The Meteor

>A while ago, a meteor came flying toward the Earth. It seems like it was only yesterday. Oh wait, it was only yesterday. Anyway, now I’ll tell you a bit about how I came to be, and where you come into play.<

>Anyway, it wasn’t an overnight thing. Scientists knew about the meteor about a week before yesterday. That was when my master and creator, Maxine, started work on a cannon to fire a special type of projectile to shoot down the meteor. And yesterday, two days before the rock was estimated to strike, she completed it. Well, actually, I helped, at least as best as I could. Back then, even though I had pretty good intelligence and even attended 6th-grade school with humans because I was such a good learner, I still hadn’t quite yet fully understood things such as emotions and common sense, so I made a few mistakes no human would have made. Even then, though, she treated me well, so I would learn things such as love and caring. Who knew I’d learn so fast! But I’m getting ahead of myself. In fact, I’m chronologically jumping all over the place!<

>Let’s see… School and treating well, learning of the meteor, creating the cannon… oh yeah, that’s where I was! Ahem! After she created the cannon, she saw that the meteor was pretty close to the Earth. She panicked, and ordered me to fire the cannon immediately (and I didn’t object, ‘cause I knew only to obey). So the cannon went KABAM! And the meteor went KAPLOOIE and went into all sorts of pieces, and burned up in the atmosphere.<

>But all didn’t go quite as planned. We hadn’t tested the cannon yet, or the ammo. The cannon started smoking. The explosion of the cannon’s ammo sent a whole bunch of balls of lights of shifting colors out in all directions. I suddenly began to understand the values of thorough testing, and I think Maxine was thinking just about the same thing. But not just about that. I looked back and saw her fear, and realized it was for me, and I began to slightly understand the way fear worked. It was an odd epiphany, and a big one.<

>But I knew the cannon was about to do something bad. I jumped out of the seat, and something strange happened. Through the window, the same giant open window I fired through, one of those balls of light flew and struck me straight and true. I was knocked back into the back wall, quite distance since I had started on the other side of the room. I was unable to move, not because my body was so damaged (though I was hurt pretty bad), but because my mind was racing.<

>Pain was the trigger. I’d never felt such pain before. I’d never seen Maxine shed tears before, shouting for me to please be okay. A swirl of logic and emotion began racing through me. I began to understand, it all began to click. And I knew just what to do. Her face was so close to mine, I extended my tongue, and gave her a small lick on the nose. I smiled. “Don’t worry…”<

>Maxine held me tight. I felt myself slipping into unconsciousness as I began to wonder: Something was strange and wonderful is happening, something to do with the balls of light. When one of the balls of light hit me, everything seemed to make sense, and not only that, but I also felt a strange surge of power. So, what sort of wondrous things will happen when the other balls of light find people to strike…?<

Your Turn

>Here’s where you come in! Did something strange happen to you when you were hit by a mysterious ball of light from the sky? Or were you nmot touched by a light at all, but found a unique talent all of your own? No matter what, you’re special somehow! And the world could be tilted by skill and power just like yours!<

The Vocabulattack

>This game plays by the Vocabulattack system. It sounds complex, but it’s really simple once you get the hang of it.<

>Every time you do a normal attack, or use certain skill that use this method (since you create your own skills, you can decide whether to make your skill’s effectiveness depend on this system), you use the vocabulattack system. The vocabulattack system is like this:<

>In this system, you are given an amount of letters equal to your INT stat (more on that later). Have you ever played those puzzles where you’re given letters and you try to rearrange them to create words? Well, this is kind of like that. With the letters that you’re given, you need to create the largest word you can. The length of the word you make is multiplied by your STR to figure out how much damage you did. Of course, skills and things can do different calculations with the length of the word. For example a healing move might heal all party members by the length of the word, without multiplying by the strength. This is one of the infinite possibilities you can do while making your skills. But I’m getting pretty ahead of myself, that’s gonna be covered later!<

>Oh, and one more thing. If you want to skip the Vocabulattack thig, you can simply say so and we’ll just pretend you made a simple three-letter word. It’s usually a bad idea to do that, though, since you’ll be getting pretty low effects that way.<

>Since this whole thing sounds so confusing, here’s an example to show you just how simple it really is!<

From these letters, he makes the word SPITED. Because it’s a six-letter word, and his STR is 12, he deals 7 times 12, or 84 damage. See, that wasn’t so hard!

>So people don’t stop the game by not posting, if your turn comes by and 24 hours passes without you making a post, we’ll just have you do the default three-letter attack thing, to keep the game going. Don’t be angry if it happens to you, we just need to keep things going.<

Stats

>When you first start out, you’ll start with 30 points to distribute in your stats. You need to put at least 5 in each stat, and no stat can ever, ever go over 20.<

STR: Each point of strength increases the amount of damage you deal per letter of the word you create. The damage per letter tha you deal is directly proportional to this. For example, a 5-STR character making a six-letter word would deal 30 damage.

STA: Each point of this grants 25HP.

INT: Each point of this grants you a letter to choose from. For example, a 10-INT character would have 10 letters to create a word from.

SKL: Each two points of this awards a special skill that may be used in place of a normal attack. However, these almost always have a price, be it skipping turns, sacrificing HP, temporarily lowering a stat, limited uses per battle or day, or any other thing you might imagine.

AGI: Each point of this adds to your ability to flee, go fast, and makes you move sooner in battle. It will also add a 1% chance to evade attacks, per point.

She has a fairly high-pitched voice. She can stand on her hind legs, and use her forepaws as hands. She has pink eyes.
Super Identity: Rosebud. Red paint job with a white stripe running around the middle of her body. She does not have a white underbelly, but does have the white in her mouth/nose and leg areas. She has a slightly lower voice than she does as Clover, and the flower is absent. She has red eyes.

Skills
- Assemble*: Rosebud can sense whether or not a person has been touched by a ball of light. She can also, by shouting the phrase: “It’s go time!”, any such person who has a personal like for her will suddenly be able to sense that they are being called to action by Rosebud, and will be given a general mental picture of what and where the trouble is. This call-to-arms is effective within a 50-mile radius.
- Thorn Armor: Self only. A vocabulattack check is used for this. Any person attacking Rosebud takes damage equal to her level, times five. This also adds the same amount to the damage she deals in melee attacks. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to the length of the word created. The damage to the attacker only takes effect when direct contact is made (that is, unarmed melee).
- Petal Storm: Deals damage to all enemies. Damage is determined as a normal attack, but the length is treated as if it were three less letters.
* Asterisk indicates that an ability can be triggered even when she is not Rosebud at the time.

Ice Armor: Self only, will stop the enemy's attack for two attacks, and the enemy's weapon will freeze. The effect of this is that she cannot use any attack that has any fire in it for the rest of the battle.

Mixed Bolt: An attack of both fire and ice combined correctly, Will deal a chance damage of normal damage +3-+5 letters damage, can only be used once per Battle, twice per day

You should reduce those moves by one each. That is, Fire Line will be as if two letters added, and Mixed Bolt as if +3-+5.

Skills

Egg Heal - Can heal anyone in the party who eats it by 5 HP times their Stamina. These eggs take one turn to create, and also one turn to eat. These eggs may be created in advance. After 12 hours, they lose their healing quality. After 2 more hours, they become spoiled and inedible.

Chocolate Specialist - Can do anything with chocolate, within logical reason. Can do things with Chocolate nobody else can that doesn't specialize with chocolate.

Egg Specialist - Has unlimited real and special eggs of any construction (plastic, real, wooden, metal) at arsenal to use to an advantage. Eggs made of wood will deal half normal damage, and count as ranged attacks. One of these may be created per turn. Metal eggs take the same amount of time and deal the same damage as a normal melee attack, but are heavier, thus less easy to carry. Plastic and real eggs can be thrown two at once, and can be created at a rate of three per turn. The plastic eggs may also contain candy.

We’ll do a sort of “pre-RP RP”, where we essentially introduce our characters and role-play them in their normal non-combat lives. Remember, this is the morning right after the balls of light struck.

Now, let us begin!

*OOC: Since nobody else seems very eager to make the first post…*

I open my eyelids slightly, and a ribbon of light shines through them. It takes a moment for my optical receptors to adjust after me being out for… hours? Months?

After a moment, my eyes open fully. I’m on a lab table, facing a window. It’s a bright day outside. The sky is clear, with no clouds or meteorites in sight.

I slowly rise to my feet. Assessing the damage, my pain receptors aren’t flaring. I hardly feel a thing. I guess that means I’m alright. But I feel kinda hungry, a feeling that is only enhanced by the slight scent of fresh blueberry muffins.

Yeah, it may sound weird, but you heard me right. It’s pretty complex, but it comes down to, well, Maxine created my body to take advantage of food. You see, when I eat something, it goes to my food processor, which converts caloric energy into electric energy, and a few other things that are kinda tough to explain. Not even I fully understand the details. All I know is, I’m low on caloric-electric energy, as well as the nutrients. Or, as Maxine and I prefer to call it, ‘hungry’.

I tilt my head to look at the clock. The face of it says it’s seven-thirty, and the little dials on there tell me the day. It’s only tomorrow. Whew. If I hurry, I might even make it in time for second period of school. I’m sure the teachers must be worried sick about me.

But they wouldn’t be the only ones. The images from last night still burn brightly in my mind. I’ve never, ever seen her cry like that, and I never want to see it again. Ever. Ever, ever, ever!

I call out to Maxine, to signal that I’m okay. “Roff, roff!” I bark, “Roff, roff!”

“Clover? Clover! Are you alright?” Maxine comes rushing from the kitchen. She excitedly picks me up, and gives me a tight hug. “I’m so sorry. I thought I would lose you!”

I give her a quick lick on the nose. “Roff! It’s alright. You saved the town, and I ended up alright!”

“Yeah, but I nearly lost you. How are you feeling?”

“I’m feeling tip-top, but a bit hungry. I think I can go to school!”

“No, no. Not today, consider yourself on sick leave. We need to make sure you’re all better. That means you need to take it easy.”

“Do I still get my walk?”

Maxine smiled. “We’ll see, Clover.” She begins to rock me back and forth lovingly in her arms. It brings about me a sort of soothing pleasure. “We’ll see. But right now, let’s get some food into you.”

-Super "Beam" Blast
This move's pretty annoying to use, because you must construct a word with ALL the letters you are given. After that, there's a 20% chance it will work. If you fail to make the word, nothing happens and you must try another move, no trying this move again; Also note that move will have half of its normal efficiency..If you manage to do it, but your chance fails, you take 3 to 10 damage from an explosion that hits yourself, and the turn is over (Gah!!!). However, if you manage to construct the word and you manage to fire it, Steven will then throw a a big blue ball of something... Energy maybe? ... -at the enemies. It does damage equal to this "formula". (INT + SKL)*Rn. Rn is equal to a randomly made number from 10 to 25.
-Mind Concentration
Make a word that uses letters of HALF your INT, always round up any decimal. Temporarily raise your INT by half of the letters used in the word, always round down the decimal, unless it is less than one, then round up to one. This can be used multiple times for faster and faster, more and more INT. The boost will only last for 5 turns, not carrying on to another battle, and it's possible to distract the character, which WILL reduce the gained INT, but not below 1... Opponents, can you think of ways?
-Magic Guard
If you fear that the enemy will attack you hard, or are critically low on health, maybe you should use this. Make a word. If at least half the letters are used, then you will guard yourself and the enemy's damage will be reduced by your STR times 10. However, if you use all the letters, then the enemy's damage will be divided by double your STR instead, most likely protecting you well from any strong attack.
-Fireball
The most classic "spell" ever. Make a word. The amount of letters used time INT instead of STR.
-Heal
We had to see this coming to make him useful... I guess. Make a word. Heal an ally by the amount of letters used, times 5. It can be used on self.
Notes:
He recently took a test and noticed he just passed it, not even knowing he was smart before. He also got struck by a light ball later, and now he finds him self with a few cool special abilities, he names them "spells".

And that's my character, pretty dependent on good words. Anything needed? Or am I accepted? Also, note that the percentage of chance the Super "Beam" Blast will work was 40%, how high towards that normal percentage can I raise the chance while still being acceptable?

“Wow, you’re really wolfing them down,” Maxine says, “You’d better slow down or what goes down must come back up.”

“I hike fuffiz!” I declare. I swallow the last bite of the fifth muffin.

“You’ve never been so ravenous before. But I guess it must be a good sign. A loss of appetitie could be a bad sign,” Maxine says.

I jump onto the countertop and look out the window. Even through the glass, I can feel the sun’s rays, and it whets a different type of appetite. “Hey Maxine, can we go outside?”

“Sure. But let’s travel together,” Maxine says, “I need to keep an eye on you.”

I jump up in the air. “Yeah!” I leap down to the floor. “Let’s go, ruff roff!”

Maxine smiles. “I can tell you’ve changed. It seems you’ve finally learned what it’s like to be happy.”

“Yeah, and I like being happy! I like knowing how to like things!”

Seruna wakes slowly, pulling herself up into a sitting position in her bed, she rises to her feet and gets ready still slowly. She flips her hair back, and walks out of her house, living on her own already.

Jeff buys 2 dozen carrots at the store, then leaves. After leaving the store, Jeff then heads toward the park, to eat his carrots while enjoying the view on this beautiful day.

On the way to the park, Jeff travels by Seruna’s house. Though he may not notice her (she just being a face in the crowd to him), she may notice him.

Maxine closes the front door behind her.

“La-la-la, we’re finally outside! The breeze is nice, I like it, can we do this more often?” I say.

“I think that can be arranged,” Maxine says.

“Can we go to that place with the pretty writing?”

“Pretty writing?”

“Yeah, with the ‘graphite’ writing or wahtchamacallsit.”

“Oh, graffiti! Well, alright… but there isn’t much there. Thank goodness we don’t have more than one gang in this town, and they’re not too active,” Maxine says.

“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”

Maxine chuckles. “Alright, we’ll go.”

“Yaaay!” I dash toward where the wall is, more leading her, almost, than she is me.

Jeff eats his carrots slowly while enjoying the view. After about 4 carrots, Jeff decides to save the rest of the carrots for later, then goes to sit under a tree, where he soon dozes off.

“Wow, there’s a new one! Hey Maxine, what’s this four-letter word over here mean?” I ask.

Maxine lifts me up and turns around. “Uh, I just realized, I need to go alphabetize my shoelaces! Let’s go home!”

Alphabetize her…? “Maxine, you don’t want to explain?

Maxine sighs. “I’ll tell you when you’re older, let’s just go somewhere else for now.”

“I see in the distance… We’re going to the park?” I say.

Maxine nods.

And very close to Seruna, a loud voice speaks…

I stop my walk and start to skip along instead. “Woff woff! We’re goin’ to the park! Woff woff! We’re goin’ to the park! Woff woff! We’re goin’ to, we’re goin’ to, we’re goin’ to the park, woff woff!”

Maxine chuckles. “I take it you like the idea, then.”
