I'm interested in learning more about Anne FLACK, who according to the 1851 Census where she was living at Offord Cluny, Huntingdonshire, the widow of William STOREY. She was the head of the family, a Gardener, aged 61 years and born at Buckden, Huntingdonshire. This means she would have been born 1789/1790. She married William STOREY at Offord Cluny, Huntingdonshire on the 15th July 1811. Witnesses to the marriage were Clarence FLACK and Richard FLACK.
My main interest is in the STOREY family but I would love to learn more about Anne and her family to make my tree more complete

On the database we have two Flacks born in Buckden, Huntingdonshire: George Flack born 1819 and William Flack born 1822. Their father William Flack would have been around the right age to have been Anne's brother. At this stage I don't know who William married or who his parent's were  - the hunt is on for Clarence Flack who probably was a brother (I have a couple of Clarence's on the database but none that far back).

Thanks for this information, and I hope we find the connection before long.

Regards
Denise

Thanks for that information. Every little helps. I shall look forward to anything further which emanates from your vast database.
I had checked your list of names for Buckden but could not find anyone born there. Obviously I hadn't checked well enough.
Thanks again.

It looks as if Anne might have been the daughter of Thomas Flack. I have not been able to find any baptisms for the Buckden area, but there are a cluster of Flack burials there between 1813 and 1823 which are all adults and look as if they may be the same family;
11 Feb 1813 Thomas Flack aged 29 (born 1784)
16 Feb 1813 George Flack aged 18 (born 1795)
12 Feb 1816 Richard Flack aged 23 (born 1793)
14 Jun 1819 Thomas Flack aged 62 (born 1757)
18 Oct 1812 Mary Flack aged 64 (born 1757)
27 Dec 1823 John Flack aged 22 (born 1801)

Anne being born about 1789 fits neatly into the gap, and Richard may be the witness at her marriage to William Storey. No sign of Clarence Flack! Thomas appears to have been married to Mary though I have not found a suitable marriage: there was a marriage of Thomas Flack and Jane Drage in Huntingdon on 14 Oct 1781, so if this is the same Thomas then Mary was wife #2 - the drawback to this theory is that I have not found a burial of a Jane Flack in the Huntingdonshire area.

This is all just guesswork until I manage to get hold of some baptism records for the area, or some other evidence that gives us the relationships between this little lot.

Dear Denise,
I've now had chance to include the burial details of the FLACKs from Buckden into my database. Thank you for them as I did not have them before. I've checked what I had for Jane after you also gave me details of Thomas marrying Jane DRAGE. I have details of a death for a Jane from the Microfiche of the Monumental Inscriptions issued by Huntingdonshire FHS. This gives the death of Jane at Buckden on the 21.12.1823 and she is described as the wife of Thomas!!!!
You say "It looks as if Anne might have been the daughter of Thomas FLACK" but don't say why it looks that way. Maybe Thomas and Jane DRAGE married in 1781 went on to have all the children until Jane died in 1823. When did Thomas marry Mary? I agree with you that we need to see where the children were baptised. Maybe if the marriage of Thomas and Jane took place in Huntingdon then so did the baptisms.
Thanks again Peter Jones.

The only reason why I think Ann was Thomas' daughter is that his appears to be the only Flack family in Buckden at the time, and her date of birth fits in well with the other children. The SoG library does not have copies of the Buckden Parish Registers or transcripts of them - do you know if they exist? The only reason why I had Mary as Thomas' wife is that she was of the same generation: thanks to your MI information she obviously wasn't. Does your MI microfiche have any details on her (or in fact any other Flacks)? Perhaps she was Thomas' sister.

Regards
Denise

Dear Denise,
Thanks for you last communication and for clearing up the doubts about Mary and Thomas! I've checked my list of Huntingdonshire F H S publications and they have not yet transcribed the Buckden Parish Registers, so we'll just have to wait! The MIs for Buckden, St Marys only have 3 FLACK gravestones i.e. William d. 20.6.1860, aged 71 years; William, d. 7.11.1849, aged 62 years; John, son of Thomas and Jane, d. 21.12.1823, aged 22 years and his wife Elizabeth, d. 10.4.1845, aged 47 years. Hope this helps.

According to her Death Certificate, Mary was the widow of George Flack tailor. She died on the 20th June 1860 at Buckden aged 70 years.

I do not have a suitable marriage for George Flack and Mary - probably in the same place as the other missing marriages of the Flack's of Buckden!

Denise
