Hello

I have just found that Susannah Flack who married Edward Howard in Grantchester, Cambridge were my G (x6) Grandparents.

Details of their marriage are also posted on this site under the Parish Registers section, which I why I decided to post a message here.

Susannah Flack married Edward Howard on the 28.1.1760 after the death of Edward Howard's 1st wife Elizabeth.

Susannah and Edward went on to have 4 children. John Howard (my G(x5) grandfather) and his twin sister Ann who were both baptised in Grantchester on the 16.10.1760, Frances Howard baptised in grantchester on 16.12.1762 and Richard Howard baptised in Grantchester on 15.12.1765.

Susannah (nee Flack) died in Grantchester and was buried on 25.2.1773, Edward her Husband died the following year.

As yet I have found no info on either Susannah Flack's parents or the parents of edward Howard.

If anyone has any info on Susannah Flack I would be very interested.

Best wishes
Catherine

Making the assumption that your Susannah was born in Cambridgeshire around 1730 (being a second wife she was likely to be about 30 when she married Edward Howard), there are three possible Susannah / Susanna / Susan Flacks currently on the database:

1. daughter of John Flack and Susanna (Easy?) born 1728 Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
2. daughter of John Flack and Susannah <Unknown> born in Brinkley in 1730
3. daughter of William Flack and Elizabeth Hills born in Sawston in 1734. This Susannah I have down as marrying Edward Wilson.

Brinkley is quite a distance from Grantchester and I have no evidence of the family moving in that direction: both parents were buried in Brinkley but I don't know what became of any of their children as none of them were married or buried or settled in Brinkley. On the plus side this Susannah had sisters named Frances and Ann, names reflected in the names of the Howard children (which could have course come from Edward's side of the family).

Susannah Flack daughter of John Flack and Susanna Easy of Cambridge is a real possibility as Grantchester is right next door to Cambridge, and if I had to make a choice on the basis of currently available evidence I would go for this Susannah Flack as being the one who married your Edward Howard. It doesn't help you very much as I don't know anything about her father John Flack - I am not even sure I have the right couple as John Flack only married Susannah Easy in 1731. I need to review these families as the pieces do not sit comfortably at the moment.
