On 27 March 1913 three families from Hockwold cum Wilton in Norfolk sailed from London on board the “Sicilian” for Saint John NB in Canada. They were the families of three brothers born in Lakenheath Suffolk the sons of Thomas Flack and Eliza Enefer.
The first family consists of Mary Ann Flack nee Whistler and her four children Ronald (b 1899), Alick Jasper R (born 1904), Bertie Thomas (born 1905) and Ivy Ethel (born 1907). Her husband John William Flack (born 1873) is not with them – I presume he went on ahead though I can’t find any evidence of this as yet. He was with his family when the 1911 census was taken and I can’t find a matching death entry for him in the GRO Death Index for England.
The second family consists of Beatrice Maud Flack nee Enefer and her two sons Alan Thomas (born 1898) and Maurice Robert Edward (born 1901). Her husband Frederick Enefer Flack born 1866 is not with them – once again I presume he went on ahead but haven’t been able to find him on any Passenger Lists. Like his brother, Frederick was with his family in 1911 and I cannot find a death entry.
Finally we have Herbert Flack born 1875 and his wife Jane nee Fuller, the only one of the three brothers emigrating with this group.
What became of these families once they reached Canada? Where did they live, when did they die? Did they have more children born in Canada? Did any of the six children marry and have families of their own? If you are a descendent of any of the above, or have access to information that can fill in the gaps, I would be delighted to hear from you.
