|

Old news but news to the board
From BBC....
Leeds United have been told that they can play in league one but must start with a 15 point deduction because they were unable to comply with the terms of the League's well-established insolvency policy.
Leeds United have appealed against the decision but I don't think they have a leg to stand on.
You know, teams seem to get off lightly these days. Remember the way Swindon Town were treated when they broke the rules? They won promotion to the 1st division (now Premier league) but were demoted. Initially from Division 2 to 3 but on appeal got to stay in division 2 which was still a demotion! _________________

I think in some ways its justice to other teams that have been hit hard over the years
The 10 points that were deducted last season should of stood this season instead of them being aloud to take them off when they did
So the 15 points deduction is only fair - the Leeds fans are saying that they are being targeted and have no luck - im afraid thats life folks _________________

| Serves Bates right. They'll have to do a lot now to get promotion. Justice in some ways. |

| So Bates though he can get away with it by going into admin last season. It will really be an uphill task now. Whatever hopes of immediate return to Championships is gone. They will be lucky to avoid relegation. |

Further proof lower league clubs get harsher treatment. When W.H clearly broke the rules (Tevez) they should of been relegated but were let off with a paltry fine and a statement saying a club would not get away with doing it again.
All Leeds did was exploit a loophole (Its not the first and it certainly wont be the last time a club does it).
They should accept Leeds exploited a loophole allow them to start the season on 0 points and change the law so it can't be done again.
Would they have points deducted if they were still in the Premier League? I doubt it. _________________

this is not about the loophole with the administration situation. its all about breaking insolvency rules. constant breaking of the rules deserves punishment, whoever the club _________________

They lost there Appeal BUT!!
Here's something that made me spit out my Cornflakes......
The full list of teams that voted in favour of Leeds United:
Bradford City
Burnley
Colchester United
Darlington
Gillingham
Ipswich Town
Nottingham Forest
Plymouth Argyle
Queens Park Rangers
Sheffield United
Sheffield Wednesday
Stockport County
Stoke City
Swindon Town
Watford
Wrexham
think this sends out the wrong message, breaking the rules is breaking the rules whether it be Bates fiddling or owning a 3rd party player....bad news if you ask me. _________________

| Certainly interesting to see who voted for them. Wise said he was not happy that other Div 1 clubs voted for the deduction to stay - what did the little chump think they would do, give them a +15 start!!! |

So 16 of the 71 chairmen voted for Leeds. (assuming that Leeds cannot vote). That means 77% voted against them.
Out of the 16, only 3 League One teams (Gillingham, Nottingham Forest and Swindon Town) voted for Leeds. 9 Championship and 4 League 2 teams voted for Leeds.
Its strange how Sheffield Utd voted in not punishing Leeds while on the other hand fighting for West Ham to be punished. Wonder what is their explanation? |
