Nottingham Forest missed the chance to go second in League One as they were held to a 0-0 draw by battling Oldham.
The Latics had a number of opportunities which could have seen them register another victory over Colin Calderwood's side, having done the double over Forest last season.
Forest improved after the interval, particularly after the introduction of summer signing Arron Davies, following a poor first half, but the visitors fully deserved their point.
Gary McDonald went close in either half for Oldham, volleying just past the post in the first five minutes and then side-footing a second-half shot straight at Forest keeper Paul Smith.
Chris Cohen had two of Forest's best chances in the second half but he shot wide from a cross by Davies and then he and Kris Commons both miskicked after more good work by Davies.
Right at the death Junior Agogo might have snatched it for Forest but his left-foot shot flew just wide of the far post. _________________
Most people thought that Forest would be up there challenging this season but if they carry on like this they won't even be in the play offs come the end of the season. _________________
