Derby striker Rob Earnshaw is to hold talks with Nottingham Forest over a possible £2.5m move to the City Ground.

"We have agreed a fee with Nottingham Forest for £2.5m and Rob Earnshaw is speaking to them," Rams boss Paul Jewell told BBC Radio Derby.

"I have given him the option of speaking to them or staying here and he wanted to speak to them."

Jewell added: "I think it's a fair price. It's a loss of £1.1m over a year but as I've said, I want to change things around quite drastically and everyone has a price."

i can just see it now, earnshaw moving to forest, and him having an amazing season and scoring against the rams

He hasn't been given a chance to score goals, teams by him and just let him rot on the bench. He has bags of ability, look at the skill of the goal he scored against Arsenal a few weeks ago?. Was a class finish. Forest would benefit from him, if played every week.

I don't understand why so many Derby fans are so eager to get rid of him? they don't play him for most of the season & then when they drop to the level of which Earnshaw has been a proven prolific goalscorer - season after season - they want him gone?

Don't understand it myself - obviously plenty of teams would be happy for him to sign for them? i'd at the very least want to give him a run at my club with what he has obviously appeared to be best at - championship level - at the start of next season before wanting rid

Why do they want him out of Derby when there now in a league he has worked well in before? Is it just because of the deal with him apparently being lazy this season at Derby? If that's why - fair enough - But i'd fear watching his goal tally rise at another CCC club.

The word is Jewell is desperate to ship everyone out at Derby. Remember he's been in charge since November & didnt get a win at all !! He's deflected the blame from himself by saying all the players are nowhere good enough, no heart , no bottle etc etc blah blah blah !! Jewell has to get off to a good start next season as I can't imagine the new owners there waiting another six months before recording a win.

As for Earnshaw, If we get him then I hope he succeeds with us, obviously.

Thats an amazing stat really - not won a game since November Shocked

Sign Earnie up Steed - he is a 20+ a season in that league - key player to have in the ranks

I should imagine Forest have a decent chance of signing him... £2.5m is a lot of money for a striker who played a bit-part for an entire season & so has no recent form as such.... & although Earnshaw may prefer a move to a club with better promotion potential next season, i can't see too many clubs being prepared to stump up £3m or more for him in order to beat Forests bid...

Go to Forest - doubt he would get used by another Premiership club to his full abilty - needs a new challenge and Forest is a great one to grab with both hands

No, go to Bristol City, then we can have Steve Brooker back then. We did Forest a favour, so they can retuen it.

He's been at the CG this week to discuss terms. Apparently ready to sew the deal up any time. STILL NOT CONVINCED THOUGH !!!

Also it really looks as if Commons is off to Derby !! He's told us he's not staying now his contract is up.

Move completed

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/default.stm

Quote:
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of striker Robert Earnshaw from Derby County for £2.65m.

The Welsh international has signed a three-year contract at the City Ground and becomes manager Colin Calderwood's first signing of the summer.

The 27-year-old struggled to settle in at Pride Park where he scored just one goal in the Premier League as the Rams were relegated to the Championship.

Earnshaw only joined Derby a year ago from Norwich for £3.5m.
