Taken from http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/:
POLICE chiefs in West Yorkshire are to tell Leeds United they must pay up front for cover at next season's home fixtures.
If the League One club fails to pay, NO officers will be provided – and homes games could be called off or held behind closed doors.
West Yorkshire Police Authority lost more than £80,000 in unpaid bills when the Elland Road club went into administration.
A spokesman said today that West Yorkshire Police command team – headed by Chief Constable Sir Norman Bettison – had taken the stance in an effort to avoid further losses in the future. "I am sure the public will be happy with the decision. We are trying to protect their interests in view of past experience".
Police are talking to other bodies, including Leeds City Council's safety committee, which would decide if a match could go ahead if no police were present.
The £82,000 debt is for police cover inside the ground at home games since the beginning of this year. Under the terms of the rescue package they receive just £820.
The authority had launched legal proceedings to recover the debt at Wakefield County Court at the end of February. Those proceedings were placed on hold in March after United agreed to pay £10,000 a week. The club made those payments until going into administration.
The YEP has also learned that the Police Authority voted against the controversial rescue package after Leeds United went into administration with £35m debts. Administrators KPMG immediately agreed to sell the club to a new company headed by former chairman Ken Bates in a deal in which creditors got only 1p in the £.
The offer was voted through at a creditors' meeting earlier this month.
The YEP has been told that West Yorkshire Police Authority charges between £6,000 and £18,000 per match, depending on the risk factor.
Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "We have been told to expect correspondence from force headquarters in Wakefield as to the terms on which police will be supplied to the club for four fixtures. When we do receive this letter we will discuss the matter directly with them and, if then appropriate, with the club's safety advisory group." _________________

It's disgusting that they were allowed to take the 10 point deduction then and not next season
Plus its disgusting that the man who put them into administration was allowed to then buy the club back after wiping out £35m of debt _________________
