Manager Jimmy Quinn has parted company with Cambridge United, despite bringing the club to a second place finish in the Blue Square Premier last season.
He is said to have left by mutual consent but Quinn himself has admitted he was shocked by the decision, saying he had pre-season planned and was eyeing players to come in to the club.
Cambridge United have said they will announce the new manager next week. _________________
I justcannot understand some decisions by clubs.....& this is one of them. To get rid of Quinn after going so close last season is a crime. I for one hope he gets another chance at a more appreciative club. _________________
Who knows what goes on behind the scenes at clubs? It seems a bizarre decision to me too. Maybe it was the fact that they weren't promoted? Still, finishing second is no easy task. Avram Grant knows all about that.
The demand for "must have right now" in football is crazy these days. You can't wave a magic wand. A managers job is tough and people can't seem to see progress anymore. Ony success. _________________
