I'm putting a blazer together for stock class. 86 Full size blazer, 350 motor, basically stock-nothing special. Only upgrades I know it has is edelbrock carb and intake. I am considering taking off fiberglass top and tailgate to remove some weight(about 500 lbs total). I have been told by some not to, that the added weight in the rear will give me better traction at the rear wheels. While others believe that less weight is better. Just looking for some input and possibly different opinions as to which way to go and why? _________________ GET A LITTLE MUD ON THE TIRES |

hey chuck,
if it was me i would take them off..........also depends on how stout your motor is, and what tires you are running............I took the tailgate off my truck, and the weight of the mud that collected on it was well worth it..............but 500 lbs is alot of weight to get rid of and would make your truck that much faster!!!!!!!!!!!! even though its a chuvy;-) _________________ FORD POWER, THERE IS NO OTHER!!!!

It could go either way really. Take the weight off the rear and you put more weight distribution to the front. It may slow you down a bit but you won't bury the front as fast. On the other hand if you aren't really boggin and its a fast pit then the lighter the better. Its always a toss up. Just my 2 cents. Hell what do I know I drive a FORD anyways....LOL |
