Thats not his bo staff! It links up into the panel! I thought it was like a comic panel divide but they were like standing infront and behind it like they were gonna walk right out the page/comic.

Its a fantastic picture though....I love the smudged ink backgroun and also Rogues hair style with the hair band.

Considering that Michael said that he liked how THE BO STAFF divided the image, I'm going to say it's the bo staff.  It's a frickin pinup meaning that there are no rules with layouts.  Hence Michael put a two line border around the image, added the bo staff to seperate the two characters and added the "smoky"/"smudgy" effect to make the image a bit more mysterious.  It's supposed to look a bit like a 30s noir movie poster.  Which it does.

Just bought this original page of artwork from Danny Miki.  It's the first time Ultimate Gambit & Ultimate Rogue kiss.  The image is from Marvel Comics: Ultimate X-Men #51 featuring art by Andy Kubert (pencils) and Danny Miki (inks).  Now I have the regular 616 1st kiss and the Ultimate 1st kiss.

I also bought this from Danny Miki too.  It's from the Bizarre Love Triangle storyarc that appeared in Marvel Comics: X-Men 171 featuring art by Salvador Larroca (pencils) and Danny Miki (inks).

If I knew how to buy Gambit art I'd do it, since I work and all. But I haven't a clue where to look. Since there's no comical artists around where I live.

You could start small by looking on eBay. The contacts come much later I'm guessing after you have been to conventions and built up a bit of a good reputation......

So I'm trying to create my own website to avoid people having to go through my comicartfans account (which has a very long URL and nobody visits unless directed there from me pimping my site or people clicking through here).  Until the website is live, please send me a PM with your email address information letting me know if you wish to be added to the website's email list informing of any updates.  Until everything is live...here's a little something to wet your appetite of new art received featuring everyone's favorite Ragin Cajun and Southern Belle.

I asked John Paul Leon (artist of Alex Ross' Earth X series) to show the fate of Gambit & Rogue in the Earth X universe.  It was never revealed in the book what their final moments looked like, but it was said that Gambit died in the same kiss that took Rogue's life.  This is the image that JPL came up with to tell that story.  No galactic storms, no angry mobs, no mutant terrorists, no nothing.  It was just fate that when they kissed and looked in each other's eyes one last time they knew they had accomplished everything they hoped to get out of life.  Pretty romantic, huh ladies?

That is pretty damn romantic. Stef says that your site is nearly finished by the way. She's got a lot going on it work, or it'd be done sooner.

That is fantastic. I would love to have that framed on my wall or something.

Thanks for the update and for the comment about the most romantic piece of art I own.

I didn't want any violent deaths or anything.  I didn't see that as being their curtain call.  Just something simple, you know?  I was shocked that my direction to him could inspire JPL to draw that good.  I should be a comic writer if I can produce those kind of results.  Then again John Paul Leon is known for bringing some of the best storytelling to his visuals.  Anyway, it's a great image never the less.
