My guess, and this is pure speculation on my part, is that they had already met their quota for messing up female characters in this particular movie.
By the by, Spyke from Evo was actually based on Marrow from the comics.

In my opinion Pro X is the best because of what he does with his powers and stuff...and it seems to me there is more focus on him and his powers than any of the other ones.

Never liked the prof BTW. too uppity and full of himself, not in the cool gambit way but in the never been beat down well enough way.

I'm wayyy more important than the Prof.  He's just a fool who funds things, Gambit could fund the X no problem. He never contributes anything that someone else couldn't contribute, except constant unwanted distractions to shiar space to settle issues that should never have been a problem to earths mutants.
