Honestly I think Vargas could have been cool if they had added a touch of depth to him, given him a purpose and a back story. I don't mind leaving a bit of a character to mystery, but they didn't connect any dots, and then just dropped him summarily.

And that's sad. I think a hero is only as good as the villian he faces. So if the villian is half-thought-out and lame it makes it hard to put the hero over.

Is that why they use Mags so much? Cos his back story is so well defined and he has numerous connections, both good and bad, throughout the M-universe?
Same goes for Apoc and Sabretooth I suppose. The writers just love all the underlying history that saves them from having to properly introduce the character. Everything in comics seems so rushed now-a-days! They never want to take the time to develop a new character, or build up a story. Like with the HoM stuff or (now) Civil War. Its all wham bam, heres a fight...oops its over and back to the drawing board. Oh I know...lets bring a killer villian onto the team *shock* and dadadaaa make them turn just when the X-Men trust them again!!! Oooh the surprise! Or better yet....make one of the good guys turn! hmmm? Who's got a shady past and is expendable? Ah yes...the Cajun! No one will miss him! Oh wait....we need a two-bit character (also expendable) to make this happen. Oooh, a lame ass version of Gambit would be cool! Hmm....*scribble scibble* ahhh yes....Pulse! Rogue won't know the difference. And we can make him touch her so you know...how can she resist? Oh...but better give him hypnotic powers too...just in case we gotta excuse her actions later on. In fact we can blame him for everything if we get enough complaints

The only depressing thing about that Crimsy is that its true. That does seem to be the way these things go.

I'm glad gambit (or gambisis as I like to call him LOL) wasn't in X3, making him on Mags's side would have been terrible in every faccet of the word...
Let's see his character get the story and screentime he deserves in X4 |

That is true but he has had four movies based on his character....to me he doesn't need to have a big role...I actually wouldn't even mind if he got cut down to just a short "angel/cyclops in X3" type of part... |
