Don't worry- this is a pretty friendly place! I only use the spoon in dire emergencies/conga lines.

Mind me asking at all where you heard about the board?

Apparently i'm a little late on this thread, but hi lord evan. you need a nickname, i'm lazy and don't want to type that out. someone will give you one at somepoint. anywho, big fan of gambit since i was little and TAS came out, nice to see new people.

BTW, list of people to be scared of who are here often:
Crimson Queen (crims)
Kyalesyin (kaz)
Episode Eleven (EE)
Crussin' Russian (CR)

They can all find you. ALWAYS. and they will all find some way to get your shirt off/knock you out with chloroform/ hurt you in some physical way/ hurl random rotten foods at you. just a heads up

*runs from collected group of pissed off guilders*

Ace, you know that isn't true. You're still suffering from the delusions from the last time Crimsy got you with that damp rag.

Not in that order surely???? Very Happy Razz (EE's way scarier and CR is way crazier and Kaz...well....you don't wanna know! Razz)

*Borrows Kaz's wooden spoon to knock Ace out and hides him in cupboard*

*ahem* So now that 'problem' is taken care of......

Oooh I can't believe your ever the hesitant type! You're a LORD after all! And being new to Marvel is a plus as you got loads of great stuff to discover and read and find. Our lil Turbo (member around here somewhere) was also new to Gambit and Marvel 8 mths ago but quickly became the most knowledgable through internet browsing and downloading.....he could prob give you lots of pointers to cool stuff if he comes by (might have to chase him down soon, been absent far too long!)

Surprisingly i've gathered quite a bit of knowledge from the essential X-men books and regular wikipedia visits, i've really got a good grasp of most major characters, although frankly i'm still confused as hell about this whole civil war thing, seriously, its like: "guys....I know you got this whole political power struggle going on...but could you stop killing each ohter and start saving lives?"

Civil war is pissing me right off too.

I mean, its only a year after the fustercluck that was House of M. At least give some time for the dust to settle and deal with the aftermath, instead of getting into yet another 'universe changing crossover that will leave the mutant world shaken beyond recognition.'

Seriously, so build-up and follow through would be nice. Its like sex with no foreplay and then chaning the sheets, showering and going to work straight after. No fun!

I'm not reading civil war....to be honest HoM was such a shallow waste that I really couldn't be arsed with another crossover so soon.....but I can see how they would have to change character personalities to make it work, otherwise how else are they gonna get essentially good guys to go at it against eachother?

Don't make it right OR worthwhile though!

Well I gotta say they get points for money making, a story that you have to buy ten issues a week to grasp and you just know people are gonna pay it.

The only arc I ever fully followed was the Onslaught one...which was probably the last time they successfully done a decent cross over! But even then I found it too hard going collecting issues outside of my usual that had a majority of characters I didn;t care about in.

I think good quality stories contained within there sections would surely sell better (and hook long-termers) more than  half-baked story written across a dozen issues?

Quality not quantity yes?

I myself perfer more bite sized arcs, they tend to flow better, usually 3-4, 6 at most, it just dosent work for me when they try dragging out the story, it loses some of its substance. And also the 12 issue stories are just a real pain in the neck to keep up with, I mean, we got this whole Shiar saga going on with Uncanny, and the writings good, its just feels like its overstaying its welcome.
