Wow...sounds like you had a great meeting with him! Interesting tidbits! Sounds promising! I wonder what the accent significance is? ~I bet its something to do with him not fully being 'Gambit' from Death yet! _________________ *

| Well, I must say hes a very friendly guy, and I showed up early and we got to have a nice conversation. He told me that Gambits accent is significant. He confirmed that there would be a meeting of Gambit and Rogue in 203 and another big one in 207 (that he has yet to write) and hes hoping its a big payoff. Iceman/mystique will be addressed next issue, and they will be returning to face the Acolytes at the X-mansion in 201-202. |
First of all I knew the accent was significant *does happy dance*
Secondly, he sounds like a really nice guy, and it was great that he was willing to talk to you about the comics while at something completely unrelated. Also, what wonderful titbits he gave you. Things just keep looking better and better with him in charge of the X-Men. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

Also, i'm delighted to know that both he and my favorite superhero will be making an appearance in Endangered species: Doctor Strange. I figured he would be the go-to guy for magic. And Mike tells me that he appears in a later chapter where he takes beast to another plane of existence where spells and incantations appear as physical objects. Regretably, it seems Yost will be writing that particular character (nothing against Yost, I just know Carey is a big Strange fan)
But I know after we shook hands and I went to leave I came back again to thank him for the hard work and he was really patient with my giddyness, hes a very nice fellow. He was really signing anything, he signed X-men, Lucifer, Save the Queen, and his novel. I took a good bit of time deciding which issue I wanted him to sign, just in case, and it turns out one guy game in with about 10-12 Lucifer trade paperbacks and he signed each one.
He talked a good bit on Mystique, about how he does believe she loves Rogue but shes under such an intense identity crisis and has sutch a sociopathic nature that its hard for it to show through. I brought up the ending of 200 where Mystique states that shes the only one who can shoot her daughter and how it sort of had a mixed connotation to it, its like, even though she intends to eliminate all the X-men, she wants to take care of her daughter as quickly as possible. Its a very twisted kind of love. He was immediately concerned that not everyone had read X-200, turns out the only one was Mr. Big-bag-o-lucifer, who had been off X-men for a few years and jokingly called me a bastard. We had good laugh, he was a really fun and patient guy, and he never hesitates to have a decent discussion with you even if there is a line.
Oooh, and I have it scanned:

I don't like dying. A little too permanent of a commitment for me. However, I do envy you greatly LE. _________________ He doesn't do this often, become a fighting machine. Alll right, after a great drought of anything significant being said I finally have some valuable information courtesy of X-position.
- Rumors are that two Marauders who changed sides will be X-men again in the future. Since Lady M and Mystique are totally dag nasty evil, and somehow I doubt Sunfire has any issues with killing, Gambit and Karima seem to be the logical conclusion. When asked, they responded "Some of the marauders are not what they seem"
-Gambits motivations will be resolved in both 204 and Messiah Complex
-Mike Carey is confirmed to still be writing X-men post Messiah
-However, the X-men may no longer exist after the events of Messiah
-There are still plans for the Hellfire Club

That is some very cool information, thank you for that.
It leaves me wondering what they mean by the X-Men may no longer exist. That could be very interesting, or very bad, depending on how it goes.
It's good to know that Remy's motivations will be resolved. And that Carey will still be writing at least one X book after the crossover.
And w00t Hellfire Club. They're one of my fave villain sets.
It'll be interesting to see which Marauders change sides, and what the consequences of that will be. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
