The comic starts off with Gambit destroying a sentinel that two men were trying to use in some kind of show. Like a pimp my ride or Battle Bots. After trumping over the sentinel Gambit goes to his New Orleans. This begins the House of Cards Part 1: The Prodigal Sinner story.

Gambit meets up with a fellow mutant named Dan who can read the future off of playing cards. He comes important later. Dan warns Gambit about his future, telling him there is something bad going to happen but of course Gambit is like bring it on attitude just put it off as not a big deal.

Later on that night, Gambit heads out into the street (looking mighty tasty in civilian clothes Very Happy ) to meet up with Madame Camile and her daughter (who obviously has a crush on him).  She tells him that if he needs any help come back to Madame Camile because she’ll help him. Gambit continues down his path and sees a girl in trouble and goes to help her.

I am not sure if this was set up or not but while he was saving her he was being watched another “mutant” Mr. Cooper. This leads the reader to his conversation with a thief named Jack “Fast Jack” Jessup in his office. After discovering that Gambit was back in town Mr. Cooper no longer wanted Jack on the job he had offer him. This pissed off Jack and (of course) Jack got mad at Gambit, meaning because Mr. Cooper said that Gambit was the best man for the job and that hurt Jack’s pride.

Gambit went inside the club to meet up with a future client, Lili Penrose, of his to talk about a job she had for him. But before he saw her Mr. Cooper caught him wanting to talk but before he could talk Gambit see the girl he was meeting up with and pretended to be on a date with her. He convinced Mr. Cooper by kissing the girl ( Mad grrrrrrr!!!).

Anyways…Lili hires Gambit to steal a deck of cards for her. Of course Gambit took the job. While he was doing this Jack was over at the bar showing his true colors and vowing he was going to beat Gambit at the job Mr. Cooper was going to giving him.

I liked this comic because it introduce the main characters in the series at the beginning. And it shows us that Lili hussy  Evil or Very Mad for the first time.
