And a mention of Gambit:

What's going on with Gambit? He's been with Sinister, right? Stay tuned! There are plans.

Then some more about the Endangered Species arc coming up! Looks like its gonna be huge! And wonder who they're gonna be digging out from the past???

Interesting article Crimsy, I've front paged it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really looking forward to this event/build-up thing and not only because it features the return of Gambit.

I like the fact that they are finally going to be tying up some of the loose ends that HoM left, over a year ago now, and actually moving forward with them.

I like the fact that it is going to be looking in depth at a character that hasn't been around for a while and that it is going to bring back some other familier faces.

I can't wait for June Smile

Personally, I feel its one of the most enthralling X-men concepts in a very long time. Because this time they arent fighting a villain that is of form, not even of astral form, they are coping with a force of nature and time. Magneto can be stopped, Sinister can be stopped, the Sentinels can be torn to shreds, Apocalypse can be sent back into hiding again. But there is no running from the extinction that time seems to be bringing them. And thats a terrifying concept, sure, you got certain sea otters and manatees and polar bears and pandas numbering as low as in the hundreds, but none of them have the capacity to look out on the world and know that they are dying, and thats what all mutants have to do.

As for the covers, I believe Crims that the big 200 is only in metaphorical terms and they are merely showing Gambit as he is best known (Jean is still dead for the moment, Thunderbird is dead, Banshee is dead, etc.). However, he has yet another cover opportunity coming. You have the Bachalo cover of our heroes up, but there is still the Ramos cover of our villains, and apparently we fans are only allowed to see a small section of the new marauders lineup:

Now, we can see a few characters including Riptide, Scalphunter, Vertigo, Harpoon, Random, Arclight, and a mysterious blonde haired woman (The official fan conclusion- Malice's new host: Lady Mastermind herself. However, there are three mysterious border objects. The top flames is a certainty: Sunfire is back. Then we have a large cylinder, hmm...perhapses the barrel of a gun...Now who do we know who has a gun that friggin big?

Oh, yeah:

Looks like we have our traitor.

And at last, we have a part of a leg in the lower right which Carey says is not Gambit's, but does belong to someone significant.

Either way, we're still missing several marauders not on the page, as well as Exedous, Sunfire and Gambit, so they will come in time.

Wowsers.....sweet covers Lord E!

And your right! This story beats all the usual villian versus hero stories as you just know that in the end the villian will fall or run!

Its really interesting to contemplate as did Mother Nature intend for the accelerated mutations of the human race? Or was it a freak of nature and is actually (from a homo sapien perspective) a good thing that it has been stopped? Is having no more mutants with powers actually a bad thing and will lead to the extinction of all the human race? You could argue that powers like Storms and Magnetos were vital to the Earth in maintaining a balance?
And these questions bring up the most important! Is it right for the X-Men to 'fix' or 'cure' the situation? If Wanda could wipe out the X-Gene then surely someone as yet unknown has the power to undo what she done?

Apart from the fact that the artwork in that image SUCKS, its looking like this could get interesting.

Dude.

Dude!

DUDE!

I'm so excited about this. The artwork isn't brilliant, but it could be worse. I'm sure it could be worse.

I kinda like the Marauders. They're one of my fave villain teams, and the new lineup (so much like the old lineup) rocks my socks.

Or it could be Cable, he's been known to carry a gun that is bigger that him at times. Or even Bishop, although I doubt it.

After all, Cable has merged with the Mummadrai and who knows how that will have changed him.

I love the fact that this arc is looking to be so much deeper than just a 'bash the baddie' arc.

XP Well, actually Stef, it was a rhetorical question, as you can see, the barrel of the gun in the marauders cover looks uncannily (no pun intended) like the Barrel of Karima's gun in that shot from X-men 196. Which really narrows it down for me who the traitor is and explains why she is cut out of the cover.

It's true, it does look uncannily like her gun, but covers can be misleading, and since we can't see the whole of it I'm willing to hedge my bet.

I will of course eat my hat when you are revealed to be correct Very Happy

Mike Carey's comments on my cover related 'sleuthing':
"No comments on traitors and stuff, but I'm impressed by the forensic ingenuity on display here. But only ever use your powers for good, yeah?"

Something tells me I hit the nail on the head.

Not quite. I mean, theres always been this 'we're a minority' issue going up until a few years ago when a new mutant seemed to appear every second book and there were issues with the younger new mutants getting overly cocky in gangs, then you got the Runaways and New x-men plus even in 616 x-men with the whole teacher-vibe taking off. Therefore they were becoming the majority.....until M-Day!

Chilli sauce?

I guess I could go for that. Hmmmm.

Of course I am going to wait for #200 to come out first. It might give my hat a chance to soften up a little.
