I have to agree with GambitsGirl on this one.  I'd eventually like to see Gambit and Rogue back together.  But NOT in the "on-again, off-again" way.  The way that Cyclops and Emma Frost are together.  They are together, but it's not in-your-face annoying and whiny.  I think it would be cool if there were some obstacles first though, and if he was secretly missing her...just a little bit.

Oh yeah......that is so gotta happen! And I have no doubts he isn't missing her already. Damn! It IS Rogue we're talking about! Laughing

I just think Marvel can't RESIST breaking them up when they're together, kinda like 'killing the Phoenix' and making Wolvie go feral. Its like a part of who they are (as a couple) hence the break will do them good as characters.

I do feel quite excited  by current events though as Marvel do seem to be making BIG changes at last in the Marvel world, what with the mutant extinction, Sabretooths death and such!

Hey Crimson Girl, good point.  Marvel does seem to like breaking things up or "changing" the status quo.  Yet you're absolutely right that its not necessarily a bad thing because it only serves to enrich the characters.  However, I get the feeling from a certain editor-in-chief that he doesn't like unions and that he thinks changes is ALWAYS good (cite Peter Parker and Mary Jane Waton's doomed marriage, and I dare to say it...Gambit and Rogue's).  I hope there will be a meaningful enough explanation at the end of MO regarding where Gambit's head is at, psychologically.  It's all well and good to say he's back to being totally bad-ass, but if he's still not "all well" and in charge of his own thoughts/actions...then he's not completely in control right?  What made Gambit great was that he was so tough and brave, wise-crackin and sarcastic and ruthless.  Yet he always had an ace up his sleeve and just when you thought he was going to betray his teammates Gambit turned it all around.  He was in charge of himself and his resources.  I think it would suck if he remained unbalanced and tortured ONLY because of what Apoc did to him.  Then he's just a slave to some psycho villain, and Gambit ain't no slave!!! NEVER!

Ooh I like your opinions of Gambit!

Its definitely that Ace up his sleeve we're holding out for too! I wouldn't like Gambit to be doing all this as sone kinda puppet either! Although if he pulls this off he has gone alot further than ever before in his betrayal of Rogue and the X-Men.

In a way it was easier to put his actions down to Death when he looked like Death but now he is back to regular Gambit looks I feel that there is alot more at stake concerning his actions! They will live on in Gambit History far longer with his face on the deeds!

Amen to his actions speaking a lot louder now that he is back to Gambit in looks at least. When he was Death, as you said Crimsy, people expected him to perform evil deeds. But now...

And I too like your opinions of Gambit Deadoro. You've got down what is the heart of Gambit.

Finally you are so right when you say that Gambit isn't a slave. Ever.

I get the feeling from Carey that Gambit is going to be a good guy, just still messed up (which is understandable if you think about it).  Mike Carey said "it's not going to be a quick fix," right?  Wonder what that means.  At best I think he may choose the opposing side regarding how they bring back the mutant gene.  I've read that the X-characters are going to have to choose which side they agree with, and not all will choose the "X-Men" side.

I like the fact that it isn't going to be a quick fix. It'd bring Carey down in my estimations if he did that.

I also like the idea that not all of the X-characters will choose to stay on the X-Men side of things. It's really looking like this crossover is destined to shake things up in the X-universe.

*does happy dance*

Kinda like that Civil War arc? hmm? Or is it best not to mention that?

I still don't know where Gambit fits into all this as a good guy but if others choose the 'other' side then it bodes well for his actions later!

It's like Civil War in as much as they are going to be choosing sides. However it's got over 2 years of build up instead of about 6 weeks, to go on and it's nicely tying up some loose ends and plot points that were started before that as well.

You've got a point that if more people choose the other side, it does give Remy a much better chance at his actions being accepted at a later date.

Its starting to emerge what these 'sides' are isn't it....there is the X-Men who want to undo M-Day and save mutants but as heroes cannot cross certain lines and then there is Sinister and the Mauraders who also want to save mutantkind but will do whatever it takes to do it...even if it means killing etc.

I guess the ultimate embodiment of this is with Beast and Dark Beast....walking the same path but one is perhaps willing and able to go the darker route?

I really don't know where Remy stands in this as although he is on Sinnys side he doesn't (to me) appear in control of his mind (or memories) at this point!
