...on IGN.  He talks about issue #200, the up coming Messiah CompleX, and touches briefly on Gambit's return.

Carey Interview

He does make mention that Shaw will not be a player, sorry Stef.

Another interesting interview to be frontpage Av, thanks.

Interesting the things he says in this, like is there actually a Messiah and that at the end of 203 we'll see what the Marauders are up to.

Concerning Shaw, well it does at least put him back in the pool so that others can play with him.

Oooh...well it does confirm that Sinister appears to be at the heart of this! If anyone has mutant-interests at heart but wreaks havok to get there  it would be him! And Gambit? Well...you could argue he still percieving himself to be on the right side (the side looking out for the future ofmutants) and he DID stop Sunfire firing on Cable so perhaps he still believes by working on the 'bad' side he can prevent the baddies doing permanant damage to the X-Men....?

Maybe?

Perhaps the only way he can get to the very core of Sinisters ~(or whoevers) evil plan is to play along til the end?

You could indeed argue that he still believes himself to be on the right side, and when we discover the Marauders agenda could turn out to be on the right side, and that would definitly get him redemption points.

He did stop Sunfire firing, but I'm not sure that was because he wanted to save Cable but more that he wanted Cable to lead them to his computer core. He did at least not kill Cable, since the stupid Summers self-destructed.

I'm not sure that we'll know what his feelings are towards the X-Men until we see him face up against them. And we've got that to look forward to, since although we know that he's back and bad, but they don't.

Well, we must remember that Apocs machine changed Gambit in ways even he couldn't predict so the 'bad Remy' is at the fore of his actions right now, but you wonder if a tiny part of the real Gambit is in there somewhere limiting damage?

What I'm finding interesting now is reading other books, like X-Factor and New X-Men (got both trades this week) and seeing subtle things that are building toward this crossover.  For instance, in X-Factor, Doc Samson, after doing his session with Pietro, refers to the silverheaded speedster as having a 'classic messianic complex', and Pietro himself says he will be heralded as the savior of mutant kind.  Then over in New X-Men, in a flashback, the good Rev. William Stryker says that he's seen the future, and although the mutants have been ravished, one will rise up and that one will be too powerful to stop.  Sure none of that's necessarily Gambit related, but I get the feeling we are in for one amazing story.

Actually, I agree! I guess she blamed mutants (and being a mutant) on her kids death/or not being real, or whatever...plus numerous other mutant-related world problems so she figured she'd 'cure' the problem. I doubt she thought it would matter much? Like the mutants that died without their powers she prob thought would become human. But worse is that she didn't go far enough and left a significant number WITH powers, including villians like The Mauraders. Why? Was her 'wish' not strong enough to cover all? You would have thought those closest to her at the time (ie X-Men) would have lost there powers for sure....did she leave them so they could mop up after the bad-non-mutants that are still powerful (like Pandemic)?

Nah, it was the intervention of Emma Frost and Doctor Strange that stopped her, they did their best to counter-curse her.

Thank heavens they did, otherwise "no more mutants" would have been even more of a death knell.

I have to admit though, it would have been interesting to see more of the A list characters dealing with the loss of their powers. I know that Iceman lost his (repowered real quick) and Polaris lost hers (Apocalypse fixed) but that was about it.
