An interview with Mike Carey where he breaks down his thoughts on some specific pages in X-Men #200.

Now that is a very interesting read. Consider it frontpaged.
This has to be my favourite bit:
| Quote: |
God, I love this splash. I love it to an indecent extent. The art direction just said something like "He steps out into view. It’s GAMBIT! Full body shot. Go to town…"
People have been asking me about Gambit’s return ever since I came on board the title. I think many of them will immediately be excited and/or intrigued that he’s reverted to his classic look: he’s not Death any more, he’s the real McCoy – or LeBeau – as of old. It’s a very powerful visual statement, and I want to own the original art some day. |
Thanks Av. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

very interesting...It makes me think of all the possiblities that are opening up with Gambit. I mean there seems like there are no resistions holding him back and he might end up taking out Mystique.
Who was Mystique "pretending" to be? _________________ RIP Heath |

LOL.... he ain't kidding! Poor Carey hasn't been left in peace regarding Gambit, has he Lord E??? *nodnodwinkwink* haha...I love it! Makes me wonder if they would have still treated Gambit the same if we fans hadn't demanded it way back in BoA! _________________ *

Double G's right. Ultimately corporation's answer to their customers, elsewise they risk alienating their customers, and a corporation without customers...isn't a corporation for long. That said, I'm glad Marvel listened to all the Gambit fans who took a stand and demanded better treatment for the Cajun. _________________ I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith.

Mmmm and we're reaping the rewards now! I can't believe how prominant a part Gambit has been given in this arc! It doesn't seem that long ago they were saying he would 'make a brief appearance'.... _________________ *

I'm so glad that a 'brief appearance' has blossomed into being a major character in this arc and the crossover. All we've got to do now is hope that someone picks him up post crossover and keeps writing him as well as Carey seems to be doing. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

I can't see him being dropped easily after this, unless he goes back into limbo as a bad guy? But as they've just done that they can't do it twice already? Can they? *eek*
But at the same time its hard to see where he can go next as I can't see the X-Men taking him back unless they find he was being totally controlled or something? _________________ *

Carey promised that by the end of these arcs Remy's fate would be decided and that he wasn't going back to Limbo.
The editors have also said that by the end of Messiah CompleX, everybody would have picked a side, eveybody would have clearer reasons for what side they are on and that it would clear everything up. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

We don't know yet GG. I think we'll only find that out when all of the dust settles at the end of these arcs. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

I'd like to know too, but I'm kind of enjoying the build up and the fact that at the moment he looks like a villain. It's nice to see him not having to play nice or to pull his punches.
I doubt he'll be with Rogue again anytime soon, given everything between them, and I have to admit I'm kinda glad of that. They need some time to re-establish their own characters as seperate entities again before any possible reconcilliation.
A Gambit solo series would be great, I'd whole heartedly support that. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
