I had to rewrite this because I lost the first copy...and since I am moving and haven’t found it I think its gone forever.

*************************************************************
The darkness of the evening sky covered the professional thief he has studied his target. Peering into the building that was displaying a large odd color gem. His client informed him that the gem will be heavily guarded and will be difficult to retrieve. He chuckled at the thought. Nothing was difficult for him; human’s security methods were a joke.

From behind him he heard a roar of laughter. He glanced over his shoulder to see an upscale party was happening next door. His eyes unwilling stared a little looking than usually looking over the party attendants. He noticed a giant mascot blue creature in a tux walking over to a group of finely dressed group of people. Then like a magnet his eyes locked on a woman wear an emerald green form fitting dress with a dangerous slit up the side. He was mesmerized by her flirtatious curves and the way hair dangled down her back. He watched as the loosely place curls of red and white bounced as she laughed at the short hairy man’s comment. He had a sudden yearning to touch her, to feel her warmth, to taste her skin.

Focus! He turned back to the lightly guarded gem gleaming at him. Before he even knew it he was in and out of the building with gem in hand. That was entirely too easy.  He hurried back to the original spot where he caught site of his vixen.

It was the time for the annual closed fundraiser for the School of Gifted Children handle by Pro. Xavier. The crowd looked please and enjoy their selves.  Everyone looked happy except for the short hairy man that was pulling at his necktie.

“Logan stop pulling on it.” Beast hissed. “It all fine.”

“I don’t care I don’t like it.”

“Well if ya keep pulling at it ya’ll rip it and then Jubilee’s feeling will be hurt. Ya know she spent all day at the mall pickin’ it out for ya.” Rogue smiled and reposition the tied before walking over to another group of people talking.

The man with the red glass wrapped his arm tighter around the frame of the red headed lady that was clinging to his shoulder. He sipped his drink as he listen to the ending of the joke one of the gifted children from the school was telling.

“And then he said that’s not a lion. It’s a giraffe!” The small group politely laughed the child’s joke. Pleased with his self the boy ran off to tell the joke to another group of people.

“As I was saying Scott we need to focus on the gathering of the Southern Mutant groups.” Storm picked up the conversation.

Cyclops swirled the wine in the goblet in perfect circles. “I just don’t see the threat with them right now Oro. I remember believe we should be watching the development that is occurring up state. What’s the name of the group again?”

Jean answered. “The Winged Jackles. They say they want the world to be a peaceful pure race. We all know how those type of groups turn out.”

The conversation took a turn to the boring and Rogue’s attention was depleting. She glance out to the balcony. She looked back up at Jean who was holding Scott but looking at Logan with yearning eyes. See something you like? Rogue thought. Jean whipped around to catch Rogue’s stare.

Rogue rolled her eyes and walked out onto the balcony. The night breeze danced around her neck to give a nice chill. She lean over the balcony wanting to fly away…somewhere far…like a beach…or forest…somewhere she could just relax. This was a bad idea, she thought.

Quite as a mouse Gambit slipped down beside her. He admired her fitting satin emerald dress as it draped on her body so nicely. He watched as she rubbed the back of her left leg with her right foot and sighed in boredom.

“Not your type of party, petite?” He smiled.

“No, not really. Wine, violins playing and men in penguin suits…nope!” She looked at what Gambit was wearing. “Obliviously you are not apart of the tuxes. What is your name, stranger?”

“Some call me Gambit,” he smirked. “And your name.”

She nodded, “well they call me Rogue. Nice to meet you.”

He grabbed her gloved hand and kissed it. “Oh believe me cher’ the pleasure all mine.”

“Charming,” She turned back toward the party. “Do you mind me asking. How in the heck did you get in here? There are guards everywhere.”

He smiled again. “Gambit don tell all his secrets… on first date.”

“Who said this was a date. I just meet you stranger. I don’t know anything about ya.”

“Aww. That aint true.” He leaned over the balcony. “You know Gambit’s name.”

She rolled her eyes. “Look buster, I don’t have time for games.”

“Gambit not playing games….” He continued to stare. “Do you want to leave this tux and bubble party and go and have some good old fun.”

“What kinda of fun?”

“You’ll see.” He shot a killer smile at her.

She smirked. “Well I’ll need to change.”

“You look fine,” he cocked his head to the side to look at her thigh. “Fine.”

“Keep your eyes up here, swamp rat.” She motioned her hands to her face.

“Well don’t put it out if you don’t want me to look.” He pushed off the balcony. “Gambit might end up taking it.”

“Touch me and you are dead.”

“Gambit loves when you play hard to get.”

“I’m not playing.” She walked away. “I’m a mutant. One touch and I’ll take all your energy and you’ll be in a coma or worst.”

“Gambit not scared.”

She walked over to him and pulled off her glove. She held her hand inches from his cheek. “Want to try…test your luck?”

She moved her hand closer to his face and he did not move. He kept his eyes locked on hers. She gave in and pulled the protection of the glove back onto her dangerous hand. “Maybe you should go. You’ll get hurt playing games with me.”

He huffed. “It sounds like you are the scared one. I don’t bite.”

“Fine!” She walked to the door. “But if you die tonight. I warned you.”

“See you down stairs.”

Rogue waved as she walked back into the ball room. The group of people was still engaged in their decision over the new threats rising. She smiled and waved as she continued threw the crowd. Logan’s tie was in a puddle on the floor in front of him while Beast was shaking his head.

“Why couldn’t you just remove the tie?” Hank sighed

“It started it.”

Rogue pressed the elevator button down and waited. She was cursing under her breath for it to hurry up before someone noticed her leaving and start answering questions. Finally the door sprang opened and she hopped in.

Lobby she thought as she pressed the button. The doors began to close and a hand stopped the doors before they closed.

“You should not go anywhere with that man.” Jean stepped on the elevator.

“Are you telling me what I should do?”

Jean answered. “You don’t know him and I couldn’t read anything off of him. His mind was completely blocked. Like he is hiding something.”

“What are you mad you couldn’t have psyche-sex with him too.”

“What are you talking about?” Jean growled.

“You know exactly what I am talking about.” Rogue snapped back. “You’re not the only one who can get inside of Logan.”

Jean stepped towards Rogue. “Are you implying I am doing something deviant?”

“You do use that lump two feet above your ass, huh?”

”What did you say?”

“Come closer and I’ll tell you.”

Jean stepped closer. Rogue smirked as she pushed her off the elevator as the door slammed shut. “God!” she punched the door and left a dent. “How dare her. Calm down. There is an extremely hot man waiting for me down stair. Hopefully we’ll have a good time.”

The door parted and briskly walked off the lift out into the cold dark city street. She was impressed by the site of her date sitting on a tricked out hog. His red eyes beamed to her as he asked. “Do you want to ride with Gambit?”

“Well yes,” Rogue smiled flirtatiously at the man that called him self, Gambit. She felt draw to him: little did she know he felt the same way about her.   He held out his hand to help her on his bike. She gathered the skirt of her dress and held it tight in her fist. Gambit eyes caught the sight of her fresh untouched thigh, which seem to be enhanced by the emerald green of the velvet.

“Are you coming or are we gonna sit here in the road?”

He shook his head and jumped on the bike. He turned the ignition and they were off. With her free hand she held on to him tight. She was afraid to hurt the man with her mutant strength so she loosen her grip. Gambit grabbed her hand and kept her tight.

“Don’t worry mon cherie you aint gonna hurt Gambit.” He smirked and sped threw the traffic of the busy downtown night life. He wanted to keep her close…close enough to feel her heart beat against his back, to hear her take in a breath.

Rogue placed her head on his back as her red and white locks of hair flew around her. She loved the feeling of speed: the wind in her face circling around her body. She loved to fly, and this bike ride was the closest thing to flying she could get. The streetlights began a blur. She closed her eyes and squeezed the driver tighter.

Gambit began to slow the speed down a back alley. Rogue looked down the street.

“Where are we?”

“One of de best hot spots for mutant night life.” He explained.

“How did you know?”

“Know that you were a mutant?” He smirked. “Well you were at a fundraiser for the School of Gifted Children….Giften children….mutant…Professor Charles Xavier. Come on Cherie.”

She blushed. “So.”

“So,” he jumped off the bike and began walking down the alley. “Comin?”

Rogue followed him down the alley still surroundings. “Are you a mutant?”

“But of course.”

She stopped. He’s a mutant and he is handsome? This is too good to be true. She caught up to him at the door of the place. The red neon light read “Bulls Eye.” She never heard of it. Gambit knocked on the door and waited.

“If this is a trap I am gonna beat you so bad you would wish you were dead.”

“Gambit don mind if you beat him,” he smiled. She was confused with his response and went silent.
