I doubt it. They wouldn't end the X-Men, just change them.

Wow, a black-ops team actually put together by Marvel. This could be extremely cool, or lame, depending on how they handle it. Given the recent improvement in the way the comics are being done (IMHO) it's going to be cool.

I like the idea of a black-ops/wetwork team, especially one that contains X-23 and Wolverine (and they all look so good in their dark costumes).

Got to wonder what happens in Messiah CompleX to necessitate them though?

One also has to wonder, will Wolverine still be on every other team under the sun or will he actually not for once?

I would call it a marketing ploy, designed to pull people in so that they can get more sales and site hits until it's revealled properly. But we never can tell, so who knows. It's probably coming after Messiah CompleX, whatever it is.

Well, I imagine he will still be on whatever Avengers team remains following the Skrull crisis (considering he has just been confirmed to NOT be a Skrull....and he kinda got his penis shot off...which is another story altogether)

they may not be ending the x-men as a whole, but the comic book X-Men is going bye bye for a long time

I take it this has been confirmed?

I guess the x-men comic itself could do with a break. But what will Carey end up writing, since he still has a team after Messiah CompleX that we know about. And is it just adjectiveless or others?

I get the feeling that a lot of things are going to be different after MC. I just hope that they're different in a good way.

Found this on comixfan written by UniAniGi:

Quote:
I met Mike on the 25th of July, and he said that X-Men is the title that's being canceled. Everyone's pretty much already come up with that conclusion anyway, so I don't see why no one's confirmed it yet. As to what Mike's writing next though, he didn't tell me, so I have no idea, except that he'll still be writing in the X-Verse, and would like to keep writing Rogue.

further....

Lowe also had to be careful with the details he divulged about the new books launching in the aftermath of "Messiah CompleX." "I will say this: It will be a mixture of team books and solo books and books that aren't either of those things. We have been carefully planning the launches and relaunches to work story-wise and marketing-wise. One character, in particular, was screaming to Axel in his dreams to have his own book. That one is probably my favorite coming out of 'Messiah CompleX.'"

After "Messiah CompleX," the X-titles - both the remaining and the newly launched ones - will tie together in a way that makes things much easier for fans. "They are all required reading, but each one will be independent, as well," Lowe explained. "After the crossover, the books that will still exist will be back to their self-contained glory, but the X-Side of the Marvel U will be consistent and clear. It's not going to be: This team wears blue costumes and the other wears yellow. Each book will be distinct and different with a clear mission statement that is easily explained."

Indeed.

Thanky for the linky.

This is indeed going to be very interesting. I can only hope that it works like they hope it will.

I have to admit, it will be nice to have a slightly more clearly defined team layout etc, since it's been oh so confusing lately.

^  More info, still not saying much though.

One thing that does concern me about all of this is whether or not Gambit will make it through the whole slew of deaths they apparently have planned.

Stef ...now that I am thinking about what you had said earlier about the xmen comics need to take a break...i am thinking i agree. it's what writers do time and time again to get new ideas to reflex over the characters; let them talk to the writers to find what's the next path.

As we all kow they have been circling the same stories for years now and it's get predictable and boring in ways. A break from it all might help the Marvel company to create something that would make the current fans happy and pull in new fans. Who said that Marvel is trying to get out the "Comics are for Kids" mark and move on to being taken more for adult market. I personally would love it for them to make that move because more complex story lines can creep out of that.

I dunno.
