Alright, its been a while since I updated. So i'll give the general gist of whats going on in the Marvel U these past issues.
Well, the Skrull shit is hitting the fan. Iron Man called together the Illuminati for the first time since Civil War to discuss Elektra. And it turns out Black Bolt was a skrull too. From what we can tell, Iron Man cant detect them, Wolvie cant smell them, Spidey cant sense them, and even Xavier cant find any inaccuracies in their minds. They are basically all in a scramble to get one step ahead of the Skrulls, and it seems even Tony Stark is no longer prepared to continue hunting down heroes. A line has been crossed now, he no longer trusts that the events of Civil war were the right thing. They can no longer afford to fight each other.
As for the Messiah Complex front. Layla and Maddrox were tasked with meeting up with forge, Richter was sent to infiltrate the Purifiers, and the others are trying to snag the Acolytes and Sinsister. Forge informed Layla and Maddrox about what he told beast: All future timelines have flat lined. However, the birth of this child was felt in two other universes. So Forge asked MAddrox to make two clones of himself to hop into an inter-dimensional vortex and research these other two timelines. Unfortunately, Layla, in an act of mysterious spontaneity ran after one of the Maddroxes into the Portal. It was then that Forge told MAddrox that this was a one-way trip. theres no way to get the clones back, they were supposed to commit suicide and thus revert back into Jamie, thus allowing him to assimilate whatever knowledge they gained. LAyla is lost. Meanwhile, Richter, via a clever plan by Siryn and Wolfsbane proves himself to the Purifiers. And it is then they find out that they are no small operation. Inside new york they have enough munitions and weaponry to hold their own against the U.S. army. And they have other bases just as big, if not bigger, all over America. Meanwhile the others capture Mist, a former Acolyte, who tells them how dire the situation is becoming.
Overall, things are looking bleak at this point for everyone. It is obvious we have more than underestimated the purifiers. I can only wonder what they plan to do now. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.
"Alright son, you can sleep on dis here futon next to our bed! put on deese earmuffs, an' dis blindfold, and if you hear screamin' ignore it!"
Alright, we got the best chapter of Messiah Complex yet (not a competitive category in my book, but its still awesome). Basically, all prior conflicts are coming to their full. Rictor is given a tour of Stryker's cathedral in Washington, and finds that the Purifiers have bases all around the world, and have amassed an insane amount of resources and weapons. How? The truth horrifies Rictor beyong imagining. While a large portion of the New X-men decide that they are going to ignore both Cyclops and Xavier and get back at Stryker themselves, deeming it their right (To be quite frank, this is what has really kept me from New X-men, yes, these kids are burdened with responsibility, but they are also kids, and are prone to making genuinely stuipid descisions). Meanwhile, regular Maddrox is in a coma, and his dupe finds himself 80 years into the future with Layla on his arm.
The two have spent weeks looking for information on mutants, but its all very covered up, and most people never speak of them. (interesting note, it seems Layla's age changes depending on who is drawing her, Peter David has identified her as 14, and the illustrators of X-factor reflect that, but Ramos makes her look 8 years old, with Jamie towering over her) Through vigorous searches, they find the horrific truth, somewhere along the line someone decided to force mutants into camps, and whatever remains of mutant kind reside in this camps.
And Cyclops and company decide to get off their asses and move, tracking Sinister to his antarctic base. And just as Sinister and co plan to evacuate, the X-men bust in, Wolverine threatening evisceration to those of whom will not hand over Rogue and the baby.
The kids meanwhile (with the exception of Dust, Eilixr, and Prodigy, who have the good sense not to go) , bust into Stryker's cathedral and Anole breaks off to attempt to find out whether or not they have the baby. However, he runs into Rictor, who tells him that the Purifiers are the least of their problems.
And this proves true, as the New X-men cut through the purifiers like a hot knife through butter, the battle is brought to a sudden halt as Hellion is inpaled through the chest by five long blades. The children turn in horror to see Lady Deathstrike lifing the dying boy up in the air, a half dozen other reavers standing behind her.
Its good to see that things have finally picked up, and it looks like Mike's first of the crossover is going to be an amazing issue. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

Ok, now that I'm over that, thanks for the rundown. Once again you do a great job and I wish that it were 12 hours later so that I can pick this up for myself.
I'm totally psyched for next weeks X-Men #205. Sure, the art drives me up the wall (as do the people acting like Ramos and Bachalo are artistic gods), but I can put that to one side for a well handled story that I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for. And I get the feeling that I will be waiting like that, since Mike does such a wonderful job with the X-Men. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
We have what looks to be at least two big fights, as well as Jamie and Layla coping with this horrific new truth.
Interestingly enough, and I didnt catch this before, we've had this all spoiled for us, in X-men #204 Blindfold talks about the company she has in the infirmary, and Beast assumes she refers to Sam, however, she tells him she means 'Julian, Megan, Mr. Wagner, and someone else I seem to have missed'
So, we have 'Julian' (Hellion) in VERY bad shape, and it means in the future Megan (Pixie) and Mr. Wagner (Nightcrawler) will be bady injured too, as well as an unknown fourth member.
Very clever. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

Hmmm. Cool. I love foreshadowing when it's done so subtly and the such. It's so nice to see it back in the comics.
I wonder who the 4th person is, and why Blindfold can't tell who it is. Could it be Rogue, since she's in a state of flux at the moment and probably not easy to pick up on?
Still can't wait until next week. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
Betcha its a marauder in the infirmary, one that Blindfold's not familiar with. _________________ He doesn't do this often, become a fighting machine. He's a fun loving scoundrel by nature. To become a whisper and the roar of thunder – a shadow and a bolt of lightning – not only exhausts him...it tends to bore him as well.
Well, today set me back 20 bucks, with a whole bunch of new releases and some major plot developments
Winter Soldier AKA Bucky is to become the new Captain America.
Loki has been ressurected as a Woman
Bishop is a traitor to the X-men, and has shot both Cable and Forge
Plus Layla and Maddrox have been tortured and 'marked' in the future Mutant Camp.
And in the stirringly predictable conclusion to 'One more day' Peter Parker deems himself a complete and utter moron. Lets face it, Aunt May is an old woman, and shes lived about 40 years longer than she should have been. But Peter is too weak to let her go and instead gives up the life he has built with the woman he loves for the sake of making comic writers believe they are connecting with their audience.
Unfortunately, i'm one of the rare comic book readers that enjoys seeing characters grow up and mature. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

That makes two of us.
I've not been following the whole Spiderman thing, but I've not heard good things about whats been happening in it.
I'm not surprised about Bucky. Again, I don't read Cap, but it was pretty obvious.
I was surprised to find that it was Bishop, but not disappointed. I thought it was a damn good issue, and the marking/head shaving thing was quite harrowing (for a comic). No Gambit though, and with only 4 issues to go I'm not sure how he's going to be playing a major part like they said he would. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
Well, they say the Marauders will be back soon, and I figure the first two 'acts' were mainly a setup. The major questions are now in place and the last 4 will provide answers.
And the whole Mutant camp thing was really disturbing, and something thats very hard-hitting for an X-book. I also didn't like the treatment of Layla, I personally am very fond of her and its really disturbing seeing the way they are pushing her around.
(Even more disturbing that in Uncanny X-men, X-men, and X-factor I find her rather attractive, but then Ramos has to draw her like a 6 year old >>)
*ahem* But yes, all skeletons in my closet aside, it was a fine issue, I didnt like it as much as 205, but that was mainly the lack of action, and considering its been constant fighting for 4 issues now its good to cool down. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

As far as I know the Marauders are back next issue.
SPOILERS for part 10
Spoiler:
And not only do they kick Bishop's ass but they also get the baby. The ass kicking is ironic considering all the time that Bishop was going on about Gambit being a traitor back in the day, and now look
I know what you mean about Layla. She's annoying with the whole "I know stuff" thing, but she's an interesting character and she kinda grew on me while I was reading the Isolationist arc of X-Factor. Seeing her treated like that was shudder worthy. Seeing her drawn as a 6 year old is also shudder worthy, but in an entirely different way
I have to admit that I'm finding the whole of MC kinda stop-start. There are some bits that have rushed by and I've found myself thinking "slow down, I want to know what's happening," and there are others that have been soooo slooow and I've found myself wishing they'd just hurry up.
Not to say I haven't been enjoying it but I think I'll enjoy it more once I've got the entire set and I can read them back to back without the week in between. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
oooh, whats your source on Uncanny 494? I'm eager to check it out... _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

NO WAY! that brainwashed Commie bastard is the next cap?!? I always hated him as bucky, but I loved the Red Soilder. How are they gonna work his big red star into the Cap symbol?
Bishop is the traitor? No Gambit sighting as yet? _________________ He doesn't do this often, become a fighting machine. He's a fun loving scoundrel by nature. To become a whisper and the roar of thunder – a shadow and a bolt of lightning – not only exhausts him...it tends to bore him as well.

Well, apparently, they arent, but he is wielding a gun now
its going to be interesting, i'll give it that. But hes no longer brainwashed and has made it clear to Tony that because he has chosen this path, hes not part of any initiative, he works and acts independently, just like Steve did. _________________ I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.
