I guess now that each book has a direction, none of them can really surprise you anymore, its kind of sad.

And the directions for the books are, for the most part, incredibly lame.

I'm really not looking forward to Young X-Men, even though it's got one of my favorite characters in it, because the whole premise is just a case of 'why?'.

Sure, without the school the couldn't really carry on with New X-Men as it was, but they've thrown away all of the character interactions that were built up, and introduced two new mutants for what? Another kill squad?

With X-Force, I love X23 dearly, but there is only so much slash, hack, blood you can take before it gets dull, and they filled that quota back in MCX.

Don't get me started of the fuck up that Wolverine: Origins is. We lost Cable and Deadpool for Way's regression (and ignoring of pretty much anything that happened in C&D) and two men and a baby over in Cable. WHY!

Yeah, I'm not happy with the comics at the moment. Most of my hopes are pinned on Uncanny picking up after 500, and Legacy delivering something decent.

And just when I'd gotten back into them properly.

It just became a total letdown after Messiah Complex, and after reading steadily for two years its getting hard for me to keep interest. Shoot, i'd take Rise and Fall of the Shiar empire over this, at least it had an interesting story. But Cable is dry, X-force is nothing but blood and violence, Cyclops has just entered realms of douche-baggery that I cannot fathom in the form of team management, and Legacy is taking its time to start up. Which would be fine were it not for the total lack of any decent book across the board.

Amen to that.

I enjoyed pre-Messiah Complex because I got to buy something every week, even if I wasn't too fond of Bru's Uncanny (sooooo slooooow).

Now, I just don't bother. I download them to keep up with them and to see if they're any good. Most of the time they aren't.

All my fave characters are either dead, in limbo or being butchered (mostly over in New Exiles). Even X23, who I thought would be fine in Kyle and Yost's hands, is being butchered. All the progression that there's been in the last few years, for any of the characters that I like and are still alive, has been swept away by this shift.

I'm just praying that Young X-Men isn't about the teens going on a killing spree, by Cyke's orders. Dammit, I was just starting to like him.

And I wish Legacy would move a bit quicker. I know it's supposed to be a solo+cameos book, but still, we need something to keep our attentions.

I'm kinda glad to hear you two are feeling like this too.....I thought perhaps it was just me finding it hard to keep up to date with things lately and feeling adrift from current stories.

I loved the start of Careys run on X-Men, the whole Rogue-has-her-own team and mauraders stuff but the crossover has made it hard for me to see all angles (like missing the Mystique/Sinister/Remy stuff).

Even Astonishing X-Men has not really taken off for me. Long gaps between issues, made even longer by my subscription, means by the time I get the next issue I have forgotten and lost the main drift of whats been happening!

I've dropped Uncanny, for now although I've kept X-Men (cos I wanna keep up with it ready for any Gambit return!) and Ultimate X-Men as I actually like the refreshed new take they have put on the X-Men and its less complicated, not  being part of the X-Universe.
