|
|
This is for all those who have read #204 (esp Aceshigh ) and for all those who don't mind being spoiled when it comes to the content.
Here is the brief recap from Lord E, featuring some main plot points:
| Lord Evan wrote: |
Iceman and Cyclops argue about the status of the team, Cyclops expains that Rogue was not able to handle things, however, he will not disband the team because they need everyone they can get to handle Sinister.
Cannonball is okay, a little worse for wear, but hes definitely there in the head, they discuss Iceman's feelings for Mystique, and we touch on the lifetime Cannonball spent with Serafina
Gambit is....remarkably, in his right mind it seems. To what degree, we dont know. But he apologizes to the sleeping Rogue, and explains that he shouldn't of left without saying goodbye, he lost her, and then he lost himself, but now hes back and she isnt, but he promises her that he will not let it end this way for her.
We see inside Rogue's mind and inbetween garbles of various alien tongues and incoherent babble, we see some of Rogue and Gambits moments together from previous comics. Rogue wakes up and is relieved to see Remy, she clings to him, but then becomes incoherent again and passes out.
Mystique tells him that he should just touch her, so that they can always be together, as it is the only way they can possibly have a happy ending. Remy questions her feelings regarding Rogue, and Mystique confirms that she does care for her. Gambit tells her that she cant possibly care, as shes tried to kill her twice. And Mystique replies that they finally have something in common. But that they have a lot more blood to spill before this is all over.
Exedous and Sinister talk about what is about to happen, and Sinister confirms that it will be here before the X-men know it. |
I've got two things to add - 1: Mystique says to Remy "Pace yourself. And keep an open mind -- while the pieces fall into place" and 2: Blindfold wakes up at the end of the issue having had a vision that was bad enough to give her a monster nose bleed and says basically that it's begun.
So here is my review:
I've got it and Oh. My. God.
Your short synopsis doesn't do it justice Lord E, it really doesn't (but thank you for it none the less). The heartfelt words (there are tears in his eyes dammit), Rogue's mind, Mystique's last comments to Remy (warning him that everything is not as it seems perhaps?) and Blindfold right at the end. OH. MY. GOD!!!!!!
Words can't describe how much I'm loving Carey right now, and how much I can't wait for MXC to kick off properly next week.
And here are my thoughts:
Remy wants Rogue to live, either because he still loves her or because he loved her so strongly once. I think time is going to tell with that one. But the apology and the fact that he had tears in his eyes was one of the most touching character beat's I've read in a long time. Add to that the fact that in Rogue's shattered mind, one of the biggest sets of memories that actually belonged to her were those of Remy and their time together.
It's pretty obvious that Remy and Mystique aren't your average Marauder. They're both fairly confrontational with Sinister and it's clear that Mystique at least has other plans in action. The fact that she practically warns Remy about them says to me that she knows he isn't really on Sinister's side all that much.
Mystique pretty much hates Remy but knows that he is one of her best chances at getting Rogue back and sane again, since that seems to be the main thing she cares about right now.
Scott is gearing up to be a ballbreaker. He's seriously got it in for the Marauders at this point, and it was nice to see him almost lose his temper with Bobby. Saying that, it was nice to see Bobby acting like a grown-up and almost losing his temper with Scott.
Things are looking like they're really going to kick off in Endangered Species. I can't wait.
So, what are your thoughts? _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.
Bang mon ami, you dead!

I know that Romy isn't the biggest thing here on the guild, but THAT IS SO SWEET! I haven't been keeping up with the comic lately, but MAN, I love long-lasting tortured love!! _________________

TWAS AMAZING.
at this point, i honestly think mystique and gambit are working together on some sort of plan opposite sinister, while contributing to his plan. case in point- "Pace yourself. We've got a lot of blood to wade through yet." that tells me that they're commited to working together despite their mutual differences for the good of rogue and possibly mankind.
i even enjoyed that romy, thats how good it was. _________________ He doesn't do this often, become a fighting machine. He's a fun loving scoundrel by nature. To become a whisper and the roar of thunder – a shadow and a bolt of lightning – not only exhausts him...it tends to bore him as well. |

Eek. Good luck with that, people can be very stubborn on the Romy/Anti-Romy thing. Personally I don't mind if they're together or not (although currently I'm leaning towards not but that isn't a discussion for this thread) but they've been through so much that it can't just be ignored. I agree with you completely. _________________ And I sit, endlessly watching the people as they walk below me, knowing that I will never walk among them, knowing I will never live as they have lived and loving them for it.

| Quote: |
| Despite Mystique shooting Rogue, she was still the first one to run after Rogue after she had absorbed the entirety of Hetacomb. Even after Cable had told her about Rogue's one-touch-kill condition so if Sinister can help get her mind under control, I have a feeling Mystique and Gambit will have a plan to get her out. Loved this issue just like all the ones before it and the art was beautifully detailed. Keep it up, Mr. Carey! |
I agreed with you...
