· Quote

Ok, so the advanced solicits for Feb 2008 are up (which is the first month post Messiah CompleX) and things are looking interesting. I can't bring myself to say entirely good, but then since there is very little information at the moment I'm holding my judgement until I know more or have read the actual comics.

Firstly:

X-MEN: LEGACY #208
Written by MIKE CAREY
Penciled by SCOT EATON
Cover by DAVID FINCH
"LEGACY"
CLASSIFIED UNTIL THE END OF MESSIAH COMPLEX.
32 PGS./Rated A...$2.99

This could be great. Carey said it's going to be a character driven, essentially solo book, with guest appearances and stints by plenty of other characters. However I hope that the cover is misleading, since it looks like it's going to be a book about Charles Xavier. I can't really think of something I'd want to read less. Like I said before, I'm going to hold my judgement until more is revealed about it, and I've read it, but I really, really hope the cover is misleading.

EDIT: I've just found out that the first 5 covers for this for one big image, which you can see since on the far right you can see what looks like half of Magneto's cape and uniform. So it might not be a Xavier book *hopes hard*

Secondly:

UNCANNY X-MEN #495
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils & Cover by MICHAEL CHOI
"DIVIDED WE STAND"
Reeling from the events of Messiah Complex, the surviving mutants reassess Xavier's dream amidst the rubble of the mansion. Betrayed by one of their own, and mourning the loss of former allies, is peaceful coexistence still an option? The only thing that's certain is an uncertain future for mutantkind. Is anyone safe in a world without
32 PGS./Rated T+...$2.99

This could be the most interesting of the books to come out of Messiah CompleX. The cover gives very little away, except that the team looks like it's fragmenting, and the blurb doesn't tell us anything about what is going on other than some vague hints about what happens in MCX. This is the one I'm keeping my eye on.

Thirdly:

X-FORCE #1
Written by CRAIG KYLE & CHRISTOPHER YOST
Art and Cover by CLAYTON CRAIN (Also Bloody Variant Available)
Variant Cover by TRAVIS CHAREST
"ANGELS AND DEMONS" Part 1 (of 6)
There are lines that the X-Men have sworn never to cross. But after the shocking events of "Messiah Complex," Cyclops realizes that some enemies need to be dealt with permanently... and the X-Men can never know about it. Enter WOLVERINE, WARPATH, X-23 and WOLFSBANE...X-FORCE.
32 PGS./Parental Advisory ...$2.99

Ok, other than the fact that they should be called Team: Scratch 'n Sniff, this looks like it could be a decent book if they don't pull their punches in the story lines. They're supposed to be a black ops team, and that means doing the things that the heroes can't. It is written by Kyle & Yost, who've never pulled their punches before, so I've got pretty high hopes for this one. On the other hand the team could get a little bit boring what with them all being fairly similar.

There is one other book that could be interesting, but I've bought that up in the Gambit Rumour thread here - http://www.freepowerboards.com/gambitguild/viewtopic.php?p=15657#15657

That's it for now, but I may well be adding more when the full list of solicits goes up Tuesday morning at 9am (PST time US).

So what do you guys think?
