I think over all Astonishing is good. I particuarly love the Torn arc (the third TPB). Wolverine is super...special in that one.

I love the "...and, I met an Oriental" Just the way he's drawn in that panel XD
and, of course the "Oh Lord I am heartily sorry for having offended thee and for any wrongs I have done in your sight including the dream I had the chambermaid that spoilt my bedlinens but if you would please make that moose creature not find me I will be virtuous always and give much more thought to good deeds and helping poor people unless you don't like them for some reason and that's why they're poor."
ANYWAYS...recap of the arc:
Pretty much the Hellfire Club is at the mansion, hidden by Emma.
Wolvie is in the danger room, which is no longer dangerous because of the arc before that and so Logan takes the students in there, turns out the lights and beats them all. And they feel like they'll never be X-Men. Kitty and Colossus get together. Wolverine's like, "finally".
Emma goes to Scott and is all like : Lets have sex and he's like no and then shre pretty much goes into his mind and makes him confront himself and he pretty much loses his mind and is a drooling mess and he doesn't have his powers.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead takes on Kitty and Kitty phases through the earth deep down into lava core and stuff before getting all smart and coming back to the surface.
Meanwhile Colossus is beating the crap out of Sebastian Shaw who then uses his power to pretty much knock Piotr out in one punch.
Wolverine's mind is reduced to that of a child and is flippin' hilarious ("I'm the best at what I do...and what I do is so terribly pretty!") and Beast's mind is stripped of his humanity and is a big blue...beast. He chases after Logan who has incredibly funny thoughts and runs into Armor (who wonders if it's perhaps some sort of test) and later Kitty.
Danger and Ord escape from thier SHIELD holding cell and go to the mansion. Oh yeah, and we find out that SHIELD's insider at the mansion was *drumroll please* Lockheed!
let's see...Logan wakes up from his illusions when he runs into the fridge and a beer can falls on his head, Destiny gives Beast a ball of yarn that has super special science stuff in it that snaps him out of it and they defeat Danger and Ord. Scott wakes up and shoots the White Queen, Shaw, and all the Hellfire club members and starts acting non douche-y because he's no longer bitching about how he might hurt someone with his powers. Kitty is tricked into thinking that something is holding her and Piotr's baby and it's this icky green blob and we find out that the Hellfire club was just illusions and Cassandra Nova's the one who's been making Emma do what she was doing. SHIELD comes and beams them up and sends everyone to Breakworld. The end.

Well, since this is a popular topic I might as well drop some news here:
Caliban and Lady Deathstrike are now deceased
Caliban was shot by Reavers, and Deathstrike was shredded by X-23

I always thought that Rogue and Gambit should adopt that Leech kid from X3.

You forgot the fact that the baby is out of that stupid holder and back in the blanket *party*
X-23 shredding Lady D was fab wasn't it.
And I'm sure Lady D'll be back GG, they've already tried to kill her off a couple of times before.

Yes, I have never been so happy with Humberto Ramos.
But Lady Deathstrike is a durable little cyborg spliced human.

Well, Lockheed is an alien, and S.W.O.R.D. deals pretty much exclusively with aliens, so there's your connection. Someone in S.W.O.R.D. probably knows how to 'speak' Lockheed's language, and asked him to keep an inside eye on the X-Men.
