Witness was a man named LeBeau, from Bishop's future. It was revealed that the X-Men were betrayed and the Witness was the only member to survive. When Bishop joined the X-Men in the 'current' time line he was convinced that Gambit was indeed the Witness (or at least would be in the future) and that Remy would be the X-Traitor.
Fortunately that's now how things shook out. _________________ I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith.

At a guess thats cos Witness is (even if he is Gambit) from a different timeline and therefore a kind of future Gambit that could therefore meet with his past self!
And of course thats presuming he IS the same Gambit.... _________________ *

Well the thing is, Witness has somehow gained such control of his kinetic powers that he can exist in various timelines...like being able to see all possible universes and outcomes or something Sci-Fi like that. Witness actually existed on an alternate time line from Remy. That's how the meeting took place.
So basically Crimmy is right. As she always is. That's my Queen for ya. _________________ I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith.
