· Quote

Ok, so it's from Marvel.com and they don't always get everything right but this could be very big:

X-MEN: LEGACY continues the aftermath of "Messiah CompleX," centering on the lives of Professor X, Magneto, Rogue and Gambit. With the X-Men no more, mutantkind must look to the past as they move forward into a future like you've never seen before! Similar to the acclaimed X-MEN: DEADLY GENESIS, this ongoing series promises to reveal shocking secrets about your favorite mutants while also launching a bold new era for the X-Men.

Retailers, please note the title change from X-MEN to X-MEN: LEGACY with issue #208.

"Messiah CompleX" is over. The X-Men are no more. An "X-Men: Divided We Stand" tie-in, X-MEN: LEGACY provides a surprising look a look at the future of mutantkind!

X-MEN: LEGACY #208 (DEC072220)
Written by MIKE CAREY
Penciled by SCOT EATON
Cover by DAVID FINCH
Rated A…$2.99
FOC—2/7/08, On-Sale—2/27/08

Best bit is the fact that not only is Gambit said to be in it (which we kind of knew) but also that he is said to be one of the characters whose life it centers on. Look out for interviews from Mike Carey soon.

So, hands up if you're buying this?

Oh and there are images (but none of Gambit yet):

More news on this from mikecarey.net:

Quote:
it's true that Rogue and Gambit are going to figure largely in the second and third arcs, but it's not true that they're the main focus throughout. I think it depends on how you read the wording of that article. Let me say, though, that I've got longer-term plans for Rogue, too. If I continue to work on the X-Men line, I'm going to keep bringing her in wherever it seems right to do so. In fact, I've just put a pitch in for a project that would use her prominently...

Hopefully.

I really want this now. I don't mind if we don't get Gambit properly for a while but he's going to be figuring largely at some point and it's being written by Carey. I believe May time is the beginning of the 2nd arc.

oh I'll be buying this. No doubt. Also, it deals with pasts, which means that while Gambit and Rogue are figuring heavily in this, it should feature a lto more solo type stuff. Encouraging news IMO.

Full solicits here, including the one for #209

X-MEN: LEGACY #208
Written by MIKE CAREY
Penciled by SCOT EATON
Cover by DAVID FINCH
"LEGACY"
The X-Men's past becomes the present as Xavier fights the greatest battle of his life. With his mind hanging in the balance, one false move can cause irreversible damage. Help arrives from an unlikely source, but in the world post-Messiah Complex, sometimes your enemies are the only people you can trust.

X-MEN: LEGACY #209
Written by MIKE CAREY
Penciled by BILLY TAN & SCOT EATON
Cover by DAVID FINCH
Xavier and Magneto face-to-face again! With Xavier comatose and Magneto depowered, these old soldiers appear sidelined. But neither man has abandoned his dream. With the future of mutantkind in flux, how far will these men go to reclaim their place as firsts among their people? And what will happen to those who get in their way?
Fresh off their groundbreaking run on Messiah Complex, writer Mike Carey (X-MEN) and artists Scot Eaton (X-FACTOR) and Billy Tan (UNCANNY X-MEN) take on two of mutantkind's most iconic figures as well as some of the most important moments in X-Men history.

X-MEN: LEGACY #210
Written by MIKE CAREY
Penciled by SCOT EATON
Cover by DAVID FINCH
In the wake of Messiah CompleX, there are no X-Men and mutantkind still lies in ruin. With Magneto depowered and Xavier gravely injured, it seems their reign as the preeminent mutants has ended. But neither of these old soldiers is willing to go gentle into that good night, as Exodus learns when he squares off against Xavier on the psychic plane, with the fate of Professor X's mind at stake.

And an interview with Mike Carey on CBR here:

And they probably will collect it in trade at some point GG, they do tend to.

Wow.  I love how you can pretty much tell exactly what's going on MONTHS before the comic is actually released.

Bloody hell.

I mean, the whole thing from Blinded by the Light was ruined by the MCX solicits.  We knew there was a damn baby!  They didn't need to even hide it in the run up!
