Well going into the day I thought it would be extremely packed, since it was a Saturday at the world’s best amusement park. It turns out though to be one great day. I got in the park around 9:00 AM with my platinum pass. I went to Millennium Force first and waited about five minutes. I took the back seat, it was amazing! I forgot how good the back seat is.
After Millennium Force I went to Maverick expecting to see a filled queue. The line turns out to be a 45 minute wait. So I jump on in the line and got on in about 45 minutes just like the sign said. Got in the front seat and this ride is still great after a year of running. Surprisingly no break downs in the two times I rode the ride.
After getting off Maverick it was a little after 10:00 AM. So I made my way around frontier town to go check out Top Thrill Dragster. It had a little line going off down the midway. The ride had not open for the day yet. I stayed in the line as the crew was testing it getting ready for to open it for the public. Got some Dippin' Dots and waited about 5 minutes. The line open and I went up to the second train dispatch station. Waited for the front seat and got on it about a ten minute wait. However right when I enter the train we had some technical difficulties as the Top Thrill Dragster had a little break down. After about 5 minutes they fired it up and we were off. The fastest launch I have ever been on for Top Thrill Dragster. I thought with the break down I would have a good chance for a roll back. There was no chance for a roll back this time. I would like to give out kudos’ to the Top Thrill Dragster crew; they were the nicest, funniest and most interactive crew I came across all day. Tip; don't wear a Maverick shirt at Top Thrill Dragster!
So after being in the park for a little over an hour I rode the three "all-star coasters". The "Point Perks" system might be a gimmick but it is worth it.
After leaving Top Thrill Dragster I went to Power Tower and walked on it. Both sides were walk on's. It took longer for me to walk the queue then to wait in it. Power Tower (well at least the side that drops you) in my opinion is one of the most thrilling rides in the park. Cedar Point really needs to consider getting rid of some of the queue.
Wicked Twister was next. I rode the back seat, great ride with no wait. maXair was running but had a line running out of the queue so I decided to skip it. Looked it Raptors line over an hour so I skip that too.
Went back to Maverick still at 45 minute wait! So I jump back in that line. Great ride once again. After Maverick I went over to Gemini. Thirty years and still a great coaster. The up and downs and Gemini remind you of a "regular" coaster. Magnum was next, and being 19 years old the ride gave a pretty smooth ride. I love Magnum!
Took a break ate some lunch at Hotel Breakers TGIF's. I had a great server and meal. On the way to the Breakers I stop to look at Challenge Park's new Skyscraper. $20.00 just to ride this...Yeah I skipped that scam.
After my meal I went back rode Millennium Force again. Only 45 minutes again! This time I took the plunge in the front seat. I notice this time they were "stacking" the station, for what I don't know.
After Millennium Force went to look at Mantis. An hour wait! How is Mantis a longer wait than Millennium Force? I don't know but I skipped the "not-so male friendly" coaster. Went to go ride Power Tower again.
After Power Tower went back to Wicker Twister. This time I rode the front seat. I forgot how good the front is on Wicked Twister. Great ride still liked Geauga Lake's Steel Venom or Dorney's Voodoo better.
maXair was next. It was broken down so the line was empty but it was testing. After the two test cycles the ride open up. Something about maXair makes it the best flat I have ever ridden. It is even better than Kings Island’s.
I checked out Raptor again. The sign said forty five minutes. This was only about fifteen minute wait. I notice something; Raptor has the best music for its queues. Why can't the whole park have rock music playing? I hate techno and country! Anyways Raptor has the worst crew I came across all day. Also it is one of the worst overrated rides in the park.
After that I went back to Wicked Twister and Magnum for three more times. Then I left the park. Overall a great time. Minimum waits for a Saturday. You can check out photos from the trip at my site www.northohioparks.com |
