Cedar Point hopes discounts lure visitors
By ANNIE ZELM | Sunday June 15 2008, 2:39am

SANDUSKY

Even a vacation closer to home can strain a family budget.

To help cut costs, Cedar Point is rolling out a series of discounts.

"This is 100 percent in response to the public as a way to help offset gas prices and a bad economy," Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards said.

Early-season indicators for the park's parent company, Cedar Fair, showed both attendance and revenue were down slightly in the northern region parks -- with the exception of Canada's Wonderland near Toronto, which recently installed a record-breaking coaster.

Man, I thought there were a few angry people here about GL closing, but this takes it to a whole new level!

I think what they say is true. There is just too much over pricing going on everywhere. Even at big old CP.

Sandusky only has a 1% income tax and I can see why residents are fed up with the Point. The city didn't grow with the park and I can understand the infrastructure not being able to sustain the traffic the park attracts.

dick must indeed be secretly worried. According to all the cp groupies wasn't this suppose to be a record year for the point. After all with the closing of Geauga Lake wasn't everyone going to flock to cp, after all look how crowded they were in october. That's all we've been hearing from the dick followers. Well where are all the people?

Yes, dick must be extremely worried, when did cf ever offer such deals for there season passholders. After years of being a passholder with Sea World and Geauga Lake that was one of my main complaints against cf they didn't treat there pass holder to any kind of deal except early entry.
