well, i dont know why i was expecting to see my beloved park ready to open for business, but i did. i knew before i went to the park today for the walk through i would see a park just before the bulldozers come. i just was hoping to see the park as i had always remembered it. alive, happy, full of life. i arrived at the campground, as i was interested in buying a trailer, and did a walk thru inspection there. i went to the amusement park and was able to walk anywhere i wanted to go. i was shocked to see just how bad things looked there, and am saddened to know it is over. i had my digital camera with me and took some photos, but forgive me as i am not sure how to upload them here for everyone to see. erily, i felt as if i was home once again. i walked down every inch of the park, and walked places i haven't been able to walk before, or for a long time. i saw a few former employees walking down memory lane as well. before i left the park, i walked in front of the americana. it began moving in the wind. as i looked up and took one last photo, it reminded me of the movie, the fly. remember the scene where the fly is caught in the spiders web and is crying help me, help me, as the spider is crawling towards it to kill it? i could hear the americana and the rest of the park saying that.
gl, if i had the money, i would save you! rest in peace my beloved precious friend. thank you for the years of great times, memories, and friends. i will miss you!
anyone know where the beaverland mine ride went to? i did see many park operators walking and talking and looking to buy what is left. saw no one looking closely at the coasters though, other than enthusiasts. cf, it's not too late, you can save the big dipper and move it to cp, villain too! please think about it.

I know that the end is near, and walking through yesterday was bitter sweet. I went with my dad and my sons. I saw my dad get really sad. He was happy he went. He said it brought back so many memories. He has bee a part of that park since  the 1930's! I know that when the day comes for th bulldozer, the emotions will run heavy for many, even ones who may have not been a GL fan. I know that when a good park go down, it is like another piece of history goes  with it. It is sad that many kids will not get the chance to enjoy a family fun park like we did. Look a Conneaut, Idora and many others that kids won't even know ever was there. All they will know is a shopping store or Condo that will stand there!

The wind made for a very surreal walk through HH. What once was a nice waterpark that I spent tons of time in was reduced to mosquito breeding grounds. I stood there in front of the algae laden wave pool and imagined a few years earlier when around the same time I was relaxing in there while watching SU:E, the monorail, and the bird show.

While the park looks pretty bad its not too far gone. The auction today will tell the truth on what the outcome will be, I still hold out hope although there is little hope to hold on to at this point. CF will be making a big mistake by letting us see the wrecking ball come down on GL.

From what I hear from inside the park today (Tuesday) DL and BD cars are out on display. They aren't being sold individually but only with the ride. Dippers auction time is coming up early this afternoon.

Coasterdad and Clevefox are dead on about the weird noise from the HH/waterslide area and how the ferris wheel slowly was spinning. The odd thing about the ferris wheel was when I got into the park at 8:30 there was hardly anyone there and the wheel wasn't moving AT ALL and it was windy...but later when more people came it was slowly turning and it wasn't as windy. I felt like it was  like the ride was saying "please don't let me die, all you people are here, I want to entertain you again.
Sounds stupid I know but it was about the only thing that made me happy today was to see it move even if it was that slow.

The ferris wheel is on a freewheeling braking system and when a decent wind blows, the wheel tends to freespin.
