It could be just another CF cover up. Did they make sure Apex won the BD? Did they approve it only because they wanted Apex to win it? Who knows.
Like BellaCroix said the BD was rebuilt from the ground up in the early 80's is it really a classic coaster in the true sense of the word? Ive said it before but the only thing that makes BD a classic is that its been in the same location all these years. Why would anyone want to move it???? It could be reconstructed easier and cheaper than it would be to move all that old wood and most likely replace 3/4 of it. I'm sorry folks but if BD doesn't stay where it is its done.
Nothing CF does anymore makes sense. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

| Curious to see that e-mail posted here... Have you guys asked the PD or some other local news organization to follow up? (Probably not a good idea for random people to be calling or e-mailing this company harassing them when the paper can just go check it out, ask the questions we want to know, then share with all). |

| I wrote a letter to the editor 2 weeks ago and it never got printed I believe the Plain Dealer is afraid of losing Cedar Fair business and will not print anything about Geauga Lake in their paper. |

| I emailed ACE about the BD cars sitting in the backlot uncovered. I asked them who I could contact about them sitting in the rain and baking hot sun. Who knows what they will say??? |

| Has somebody tried telling APEX? Maybe someone from CF or one of the other moving companies put the cars there... |

| I am still wondering like everyone else what is really going on! I am wondering if they are just going to junk it? I think it is very strange how the whole closing and the auction and what happens with the contents of the park have been so hush hush! I mean doesn't CF think that peopl are wondering what happened to a park that has been around for all of our lives? I mean You can't just make it dissapear like a magic act without people wondering what is the real reason to destroy a piece of history. It reminds me of A local landmark that is up where I live. In Willoughby there was a old lady who owned a sheep farm. Anyhow for years we all knew her because even though they build everything around her, she still had her sheep. We called her " sheep lady." About 2 years ago she passed away. She was in her 90's. Not more that a month after she died, builders got a hold of her land and ploped up condos. They left no trace of the legend of the sheep lady except they call the Condos- Shepard Glen. THe part the really is sad is that you would think that they would at least give her a plauqe telling the story of her strength so future generations would know about her. But no, for some reason they put up the condos and act like this lady never was there. I mean this lad even got on national television for her fight to keep her land! I hope at least that something will be done to show future generations that a great park once stood where there yuppie homes golf course or what ever they put there! But I have a feeling it will be a total loss. At least Euclid Beach has the entrance for people to enjoy! |

| CF is making sure GL disappears and they are going to get away with it. This country is now based on rich people making money...what the common Joe wants doesn't matter. If you don't have the money, you don't really count anymore. I hate thinking like that, but take a good look at where this country is at. The people who have the money could care less about GL...and I'm sure they could care less about CP. From the look of things, CF is getting a dose of the real world now...CP is not getting the crowds this year. I can't wait to see how they make up for the loss this year. |

They'll buy Kennywood and level the place?
They'll add a new rolliecoaster because we all know that New Coaster = Attendance Increase. Look at how much Maverick helped in 2007?
They'll close Wildwater Kingdom citing poor attendance when it was originally stated that the waterpark was far more popular than the rides?
Dcik will send his henchmen out to anyone who didn't visit CP this year and shoot them on site?
The possibilities are endless.

Great point about the Euclid Beach entrance! Who was the driving force behind that? I understand that was a different generation, however, there are still people today who do care about the preservation of history above and beyond money and greed. For example look at the small section of Geauga Lake that is privately owned (along route 43/members only). That group was offered a LARGE sum of money a couple years ago as a developer wanted to buy the "entire lake" and they refused. I believe that alone kept Geauga Lake going for one more year. That small section of Geauga Lake has been passed down through many years and many hard financial times (The Great Depression) and they all stayed strong and kept that property and will continue to keep it despite any developer that comes through there. _________________ SCREWCREW 88/ Ride op 1988

If someone can confirm that the Big Dipper car are still sitting out in the sun and rain unprotected, the Cleveland television stations should be contracted (the contact info is on their websites).
That would make some good footage.
You might remind them of this statement about Big Dipper:
"It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home."
Cedar Fair spokesman Robin Innes, about the Big Dipper on June 17, 2008. _________________ "It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home." CF Spokesperson Robin Innes about the Big Dipper.
Ohio and North America have few structures that rank as high as 12th oldest in the World. Remember the Big Dipper. |

Try sending your letter to your local paper and some of the papers listed in this thread:
http://www.freepowerboards.com/geaugalaketoday/geaugalaketoday-about616.html
If you include some of your early memories of the park, I bet it will get published somewhere.
I agree that the Plain Dealer's attention to Geauga Lake stories has been lacking. _________________ "It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home." CF Spokesperson Robin Innes about the Big Dipper.

| Per my earlier post... I e-mailed the reporter that did the story on the auction that was in the PD on the 17th... she got back to me right away (within a couple of hours!) and said she'd look in to it and, even if she doesn't write an article, she'll let me know what she finds out so I can share with you all. |

Yea they are still there.
It was kinda sad because today they tore down the giant nets behind the water slides. I watched as 1 lone vehicle tore down an attraction favortie to many kids. I was always to old to play in there but it was still sad. Sad seening beams of medal being tossed helplessly around. |
