With crowds like that, I can see why Cedar Fair thought the ride side was expendable.
"...a new and exciting way" indeed. |

Oh, come on Ray... Cedar Fair is totally committed to building NE-Ohio's largest seasonal waterpark at WWK. They're just taking a break from devlopment (or advertising) of WKK this season because of costs associated with moving GL's rides to other CF parks.
Next year WWK will be awesome -- with many new rides and a return to family themed attractions and theming with a new, lower admission price and free-r parking. It's going to be so great they're going to pay you to park a car in their lot. Not only that but they're planning on firing all the lifeguard this year and hiring the Hawaiian Tropic models, Hooters waitresses and Chippendale dancers to (wo)man all the slides.
Free beer will also be provided to everyone at least "this" tall.
Wow... how can you not see the brilliance in Dick's plan? What kind of Cedar Fair hater are you. You just can't see the future, can you?
That's the problem with all you people... you can't see the future.
WWK will make a great condo development once the land is sold in 2010... I mean... a wonderful waterpark with something for everyone in 2009. Yeah, that's the ticket. _________________ Positions Held:

The waterslide stairs also seem empty, how odd. Last year at this time the lines were halfway down the stairs. I wonder if it was because GL provided more value with the ride side open. Oh but what do I know.
I also hear that the teen night was not very well received. Haha, nice work CF, you've got a winner on your hands.
Oh let me know who does your research, I need to stay clear of that company. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

When was "teen" night? And are they doing the karaoke shows, etc, like they had promised in the old stadium? |

OH yea .... here is my improvisation of cedar fairs thoughts "Oy...WWK is the biggest expansion to Geauga Lake and just look at how well it does on just the waterpark side...why do we even keep rides open?"
Hmmm...my thoughts, people only visited because of the rides and the waterpark, not just the waterpark. Wow that company sure is brilliant [end sarcasm] _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Given yesterdays forecast, it doesn't me there was no one there.
The month of June had few days without rain. The best weather for a waterpark was the first week of June , when we were in the nineties. They were dead then too.
With the weather we've had, it's all the more reason they'll shut her down, and that will be their excuse. _________________ >>>>>Feuer FREI<<<<<<

Too bad yesterday's thunderstorm didn't blow WWK away. |

RideOp90's snapshot at the top of this page is incredible. I've seen three times as many cars at my local swimming pool than in that picture.
Whether CF wants to continue operations or not (and I think there is a general consensus here about that!), there is simply no way they can do so without running in the red.
You know what they should do? They need something else to bring folks in besides the water attractions. I dunno, maybe some dry rides or something. How about a roller coaster and some flats? Who knows, maybe put up some sort of amusement park across the lake from the water park... Think of the synergy you could build with something like that!

You know, I think you're onto something there. Too bad noone ever thought of a "Wet and Dry" park for one admission price in the 80's... that would have been awesome. Just think of the fun you could have after getting out of a 45 minute line to ride a classic wooden coaster then hopping into a wave pool to cool off.
Jesh... I guess some people just aren't thinking.
(BTW: Thanks Gaspar Lococo, Earl Gascoigne, Dale Van Voorhis and Milford Jacobson... your brilliance is becoming more and more apparent every day) _________________ Positions Held:

WWK isn't going to make it. The billboard facing north on the Jennings Road freeway has changed over. For the last couple months it was for the WWK season pass "deal". It is now advertising rum.
So, Cedar Fence is obviously pulling it's advertising budget for WWK already.
It's over kids. No huge midwest waterpark for us!
As far as I'm concerned, after seeing the DL pics today, the big wigs over in Sandusky can stick their "waterpark" up their collective a**es. I don't care about it anymore. Geauga Lake is dead and no matter what they do over there will never bring it back.
This is just criminal. |

^^^preeeetty much.
i never ever cared about the water park in the first place.
and if i did go this year, which i plan to just once, i wouldnt spend anymore than 2 hours there. there is just simply NOT enough stuff to do there. but for all i care i could walk there and take no more then 8 minutes.
but as most people have pointed out, it wont make it next year unless they plan something big for 2009 in the soon-to-be-empty space where the old flats were. _________________ Cedar Fair - epic FAIL. |

I think a quote from Kinzel a while back was..
"I think we(CF)underestamated the drawing power the animals had"(Sea World)
His next statement might be after seeing how well WWK is doing..
"I think we underestamated the drawing power the RIDE side had" |

You know as much as I hate to say this....I really know that WWK is not going to make it, but I almost hope it does. If for no other reason than that is all that is left of all those years of history on that land, you know? But if it does last that would mean CF is 'winning' too, and nobody wants that right about now. I'm torn. |
