I personally don't think it has a chance in hell.
If you have days in June that hit 90 + degrees and the place hits maybe a thousand people, it don't look good.

But, in an attempt to keep this light at heart, I'm sure Norton will like to cover it's closing.

Absolutely not. The water park this year has no crowds and little interest to go because the other side isn't open.

If it closes at the end of this season....I wouldn't be shocked.

No chance of survival.
Especially when you consider that there has been almost no advertising for it. I have seen more ads for Idlewild than GLWWK.
I think that Schlitterbahn will be back in 2009 to buy the water park rides.

My opinion is that there is no way Wildwater Kingdom will make it.  If they're here next year, I'll be surprised.  I think that Cedar Fair has set them up for disaster with it's limited hours, as well as the fact that many northeastern Ohioans will never forget what Cedar Fair did to Geauga Lake, how they did it, and also the latest controversy over the Big Dipper (did they offer it to ACE or didn't they?).  This will leave a sour taste in our mouths for a very long time to come.

This is my theory and I know Coasterdad agrees with it, we have spoken about it.

Within the next three years Soak City, what is there, will be torn out and WWK's slides and rides will be replacing what is there now.

It will be advertised as "The Brand New Soak City"! Bet your money it will.

Sorry to sound stupid to ask, but what is Soak City! And where is it now?

^Soak City is Cedar Point's water park. Extra charge water park.

Based on the past two days - it won't last. This time last year there would be a decent line on Thunder Falls' tube slides. There was nobody going up Thunder Falls most of the day.

Katie, I may have to agree with you and Coasterdad. The original Soak City slides are quite dated. Thunder Falls and Liquid Lightning would easily fit in those locations.

I was actually interested in getting WWK season passes, but nobody in the extended family wants to go onto Cedar Fair property again, unless they give us free tix (LOL)
Cuyahoga Falls has a nice city waterpark called 'WaterWorks', and is just like WWK minus the Tornado Slide,  the Wave Pool and the high prices...and only $8-12 for admission (free parking) for NON-Residents...even cheaper if you live there!

The que lines are not a good indication of how well the park is doing attendance wise. You would need to go in WWK to see how busy the midways are. My guess is that they are extremely packed, its just that not everyone wants to ride those rides.

Well at least thats someones opinion. Wink

As far as WWK surviving there is no way. CF has already showed that they plan on selling most of the land around it leaving no room for expansion. Plus who will buy land that close to a waterpark?

My bet is that those rides are destined for SC and the rest of the land will be sold off. CF wants nothing to do with that property - they killed it, that was there plans from day two.

A senile old mans brain is not hard to figure out.

I think the easiest way to guestimate attendance is to give the parking lot a drive-by.
If you count a hundred cars, figure at most there are 400 people.
If you see more employee cars in their lot than the guest lot, you place is screwed...

I had an interesting conversation with one of the sales people at Tradewinds yesterday - she said there is talk that they will be investing more money into the waterpark and putting more rides there.  I really don't believe they'll do this but thought it was interesting.  And you can get your $5 parking fee back - take your parking ticket to customer service and they'll reimburse you.  Only reason I went over there was I overheard someone talking about a beach towel that had all the bigger GL rides listed on it and indeed they did, it also was half price.

We all know how CF brainwashes there employees. Count on anything you hear or read from them as being a lie.

what makes me believe even more that WWK rides are going to SC is because SC is becoming so outdated.
Also, the magnum is starting to sink because the water park is directly under the ride, so they will probably have to tear down that ride, rip out SC, then replace it with WWK's rides, making (what most people said before), "the NEWW soak city!"
