I honestly do not remember any flames going across the river. As I recall it was the standard cap type guns used in all the animatronic scenes. They were incredibly loud to to the close proximity and its possible that many saw the flash of the cap guns going off.

The water definitely stayed on several times that I rode the ride. Whether it was due to a malfunction or not I do not know. I know in later years the water was a small trickle or not on at all.

Ray??

I dont remember the flames either but I sure remember that ride. I remember the piano guy too!I always wondered what happened to all the stuff that was out there in the lake...I guess I sort of just assumed it was all still out there rotting in the trees or something. Dont ask me why I didnt think they would have brought it all in.

My parents always took tons of pictures when we were growing up, but most of which would have us in the pictures, with very little background. The other thing is that in most of the early 80's, they took a lot of slides and not regular photographs. Does anyone know anything about converting the slides over to pictures(ease/quality) that sort of thing. Also for those that know, if you convert them over, do you lose the slide(is it a one time transfer)?

Making a print from a slide does not destroy the negative, depending on the lab they may damage the mount but they'll usually replace it if they do.  If there's notes on them you may want to copy them down to make sure you don't lose them... usually though labs don't even bother unmounting.  It's a very simple process for a lab to do - it won't be 1-hour unless you go to a professional lab but most stores send-out services can - I know the Fuji lab I used when I worked Wal-Mart's photo did it.  The finished results are usually not as good as a print from a negative but they're better than looking at a 1" photo held up against a lightbulb.  Smile

Slides are very easy to digitize. You need a film or flatbed scanner.
I have an fairy inexpensive Epson scanner that handles this easily.
All you need to do is insert the slide, tell the software that it is a transparency and not a negative. There is no damage or changes to the slide. It is similar to making a print from a slide but you get a file instead of print. The quality is quite good and any scratches, color issues, exposure problems can be fixed upon scanning. You should do this with all of your negatives and slide for archival purposes. Film WILL change with age.
Plus then you have your photos stored on CD or DVD which makes viewing easier.
