I wanted to let you know I talked with Bob who works with the auction to find out what will be happeneing with the plunge since no one bought it yesterday and to seeif they would sell the cars. He told me that he had an offer for $5,000 for all the cars. I also asked him if they were selling the Raccoon that would greet us on the ride, he said that everything will go with the one who made the offer. So what will happen next is a mystery.....

Gunky and I looked for the Raccoon Monday and saw no signs of it. Perhaps it already has a new home.

I know I thought it would be great to find out where our little friend went. I also tried to find out about the cars because for many of us, the Pepsi Plunge may have not been a "thrilling ride" but most of us have known that ride for many years and it was a fun time. I know I took pictures of it yesterday and it may sound crazy, but I even took a picture where her was peeling. I know there were many hours spent in the house waiting to get up the stairs and picking at the walls to see all the different colars it has been over the years. Man I am going to miss doing that this year and years to come!

Maybe whoever bought the cars will be selling them off? I know it would be cool to have one! I also would love a piece of the house the line wrapped through. Just think about how many names were carved into that thing over the years!  To me, that ride and the Dipper were must rides every time we went.

Does anyone have any pics of it from this week? Sad as it may be I would love to see some....

I wanted to give you a update the CF just called me to let me know that after the auction someone bought the plunge. I don't know for sure what that person's plans will be with it, but hopfully it will rise again somewhere where we can enjoy it! I know that when I talked to Nortin on Wednesday, he said they had an offer for it for$5,000.

I have a question if anyone can help with this. At the auction on the Pepsi Plunge, they said they wouldnt go any lower than $2000 to start the bidding. Several times they mentioned if you buy something, take what you want and leave the rest. So wouldnt that apply to the ride as well? I mean i really wanted one of the log cars or all of them for that matter because I'm sure I could keep one or 2 and sell the rest. So why couldnt i have bought the ride for $2000 and just taken the cars and left the actual ride for destruction? Not that i want to see it destroyed because it was my favorite ride, but since nobody bid on it, why couldnt it have been an option?

I remember this as one of the first rides where I remember things such as the paint peeling or the gum stuck to the wall. Also, I'm not one for graffiti, but I always thought it was cool to read some of the writings in that line. Not any of the bad stuff. Back then it was mainly things like, "Mike was here 6-15-89" or something like "Tom loves Becky" or stuff like that. I always wondered as a kid, how long ago someone wrote that(not thinking that they probably painted over it each year!). I think i may have even carved my name in there somewhere myself!

I know I was not happy with the fact that they wouldn't sell he cars after the ride didn't sell. i think the whole thing is sick how with this mess they are still trying to squeezing out every dime they can get! I mean they killed a great park and gave no no one the chance to save it and unless you were like the few of us who know about the preview and the auction, never got a chance to really say good bye and get their last walk through of the park!!!!!! That makes me want to cry!!!!! It really hurts!

I was wondering the same thing. Why didnt somebody just pay the $2,000 for it and sell off the cars or whatever? I mean, I wouldnt want to see it destroyed either but nobody bid on it. Wish I would have been there with $2,000.

I remembe those. The funny part about talking about this ride that I knew the other names it had, but I always called it "the log ride." I am glad that I bought a on board picture of my kids and I on it. I keep it on my keyboards along with my on board shots of us on the Villian and The Dominator "Batman". I know next week we are going to King Dominion and I told my husband I would like to get  a on board picture of us on the Dominator in its new home. I hope that the log ride will get a new home to be able to do the same!
