After watching this video I don't know who to trust anymore. Liston as the auctioneer tries to correct Carol Sanderson and asks her to be escorted out - she never was by the way.

| I don't trust anyone who came there and bought any of the big rides from the auction unless I personally hear from someone reliable (like from this site, CD and GM come to mind) that the rides were assembled and being enjoyed somewhere else. |

| From what I was told at the auction by Carol they put a bid on the land to try and preserve The Big Dipper and Ballroom and apparently it wasn't accepted because The Big Dipper was sold at the auction. I don't trust Norton. We will have to wait and see what happens with the land. I wish they could have saved The Big Dipper onsite and we could ride it again. It was my first coaster that I rode and I will miss riding it. |

It's not so much that I trust Norton but I thought they seemed at times a bit rude as if they were in a hurry to auction everything off and get out of there. I was told someone overheard one of the Norton guys complaining about how paltry the stuff was gong for so it seems like their cut in all this was rather minimal. To me that would not be very professional in my eyes.

I'll agree with that assessment. From the ladies in the trailer to the auctioneers and their assistants I thought everyone from Norton was amazingly rude. I can remember being shocked how they were talking to everyone as they were trying to get their truck through the crowd from Beachcombers to The Dipper.
C'mon a line about "You're not going to do it with bake sales"... they should have realized at a public auction that most of the people there were not there to bid but were emotional visitors there to watch the happenings.
It was stark contrast to how the rest of the employees, EMTs, and security behaved.

All they are concerned about is money and time. Period. It is those two things that have probably made them succesful at what they do. imagine trying to unload an entire amusement park in two days. Speed is everything.
I am by no means trying to defend them, but that is exactly the kind of mentality I would've expected. "if you want it so bad, bid for it and stop whinning..." I once heard an auctioneer bark at a lady over an old piano.
(the lady looked about 70 yrs old.) After that auction, he went over to her and apologized for being brash, saying: "Sorry, ma'am, i was just doing my job. If I don't push, things don't get sold and i don't get paid."

| Wow...that Norton auctioneer was extremely rude to the crowd. Especially the bake sale and car wash comments. Totally unprofessional and a "could care less" attitude. Apparently Cedar Fair didn't place a check mark on the contract in consideration to polite customer service when they hired Norton. How ironic... |

Folks come on, this is one instance where I have to disagree with most of you. They were hired to do a job, that being move the stuff out for top dollar. They were given two days to do it all in, that is a lot of ground to cover very quickly. I can tell you from my own personal experience in my professional career there have been a few times when being "nicey nicey" is the last thing on my mind when I have an alloted amount of time to accomplish a huge task. You hunker down, get to it, move things along and make sure processes happen. That is what Norton does.
I can tell you that they were well aware of the angst surrounding this auction. Norton is in the middle; they know the sentiment towards Cedar Fair from the general public and people in the industry not connected to Cedar Fair and how shocked everyone is about this whole situation and how it has been handled. Norton also has a responisbility to Cedar Fair; Cedar Fair in essence is "the boss" and Norton has to follow any and all instructions or information given to them from Cedar Fair. (ie. the Big Dipper being offered to ACE that Cedar Fair is claiming) Think back over the past several months and how much the information on this auction and what or what would not be included changed...that is the reality of dealing or working with Cedar Fair, they run their business not on logical, concrete business decisions but "spur of the moment" ideology based upon whatever direction the wind is blowing and/or how Mr. Kinzel feels that day. Norton is in a "no win" situation.
As much as being at the park one last time was "therapy" for us in our efforts to say good-bye to Geauga Lake it was nothing more than a business transaction for Norton. They delivered. |

| I don't know, something about that auction and the BD stinks. He starts at $50,00 and ends up at 5,000? You honestly think I believe that every other ride was more sought after than a hstorical coaster? Every ride sold for lots of money...except BD? And Norton acted like a dick when he kept saying "nobody interested, anybody serious here about this ride, no point wasting time here." I wish I had been there, I'd tell him what he could do with his crap eating attitude. I wish CF the worst...I hope CP is sold to a decent company that cares about it and I could start visiting it again. |

I have to agree with you up to a point.
That point is claiming that ACE was offered a coaster and did not accept is bordering on defamation. All in all, Norton had a hard job to do and except for that ACE issue, they seemed to do it well. |

| After Carol yells out that the offer was false and the guy tells security to get her out of there he goes on to repeat what he said by saying, "American Coaster Enthusiast and OTHER GROUPS." How many and what other groups is he referring to there? |

| I wouldnt be so hard on Norton. As mentioned earlier they were just doing a job. Although, I would agree some of them seemed rude. I was at the auction and thought it was interesting how they handled the mix up in the maintenance shop (items 132 & 134 I think). Basically they mis-marked an upstairs room with all the old sign and poster making equipment. One one the Norton guys was upstairs tearing tags down as if he was going to convince everyone they were wrong. The guy who originally bought the room for like $350 was later outbid. People were a bit testy in that cramped stinky shop. |

I understand they had a job to do and I don't dispute that but then to say that Dipper was "offered to ACE and other groups" had nothing to do with the auction and was in bad taste. That is an issue that should have been between ACE and CF. He should have just mentioned it was a historical ride and started the bidding.
Anyone notice how quiet it got around Dipper when it was time to bid on it? It was eerie.
