Hey my name is Mike and Im new here so hi to all of you. I have been reading and posting on boards like this since the early 2000 refreshinglook.com days. Just got an account here.
Anyway. Without Geauga Lake has anyone noticed how boring this summer has been. Before when I wanted to go to an amusement park it was a 30 min drive from home. Now I can't go anywhere without driving almost 2 hours. Summers prior to this one that would have been okay. But with gas prices the way they are now I can't really go anywhere. Im for sure not gonna go to Wildwater Kingdom. I honestly think Id rather go to pioneer before Id go to WWK. What have you all been doing to get your coaster riding in this year? |

Welcome!
I can't ride this summer, but we have been going to our smaller family owned parks. Waldameer is a great choice. They have a brand new wooden coaster this year.
Kennywood and Idlewild is not too far either. I guess it depends on where you live.
We don't blame you for not wanting to go to WWK, I couldn't take it, I know that. Erie has some cool water parks if you want to look those up as well.
Have fun here and keep on posting. _________________ Katie

I was on vacation last week and I sure as heck would have spent at least two days at the Lake. I went to Waldameer on the 14th and Kennywood last Friday. Other than the two days for preview and auction, the rest of the time was boring. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. CoasterMike, are you in Cleveland or Akron?
If Akron, Cuyahoga Falls has a community-owned waterpark called Waterworks. No dry rides, but a decent-sized waterpark that is supposed to be fairly cheap.
There's also the other options of things like bowling, rollerskating, and crafts. The preferred craft of this board is making Richard Kinsel Dartboards. |

I know GL was only 30 mins away from me in Akron, and that was the best thing because it didn't cost a lot of gas. I did the brave thing and venture out of state to Kennywood and Idlewild. I'll tell you what I sure felt alot better spending my money at a park that won't screw me over. It was worth every $. I'm still hoping to check out Waldameer this year, because I don't want to support someone who closes your favorite park thats been there since you can remember. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I headed on out to Waldameer yesterday and Ravine Flyer II was amazing. I want to see that in the top 10 this year. The terrain on that coaster is amazing. |

Yeah the rest of the park was nice. Small but fun. I like that you can bring in a cooler and food. Also if you decide to buy food it is actually worth money because it actually tastes good. They have an old dark ride I enjoyed and a neat fun house. Im looking foward to going to Kennywood later on this year. Its been a while since I have been there. |
