What happened to the corkscrew? Did it get moved to another park?

Not only did the Screw get moved to another park. It was moved to another continent! It is currently in India.
Here is a current Pic  http://www.mgmdizzeeworld.com/images/set1/roller-coaster.jpg

And the park website http://www.mgmdizzeeworld.com/amusement1.htm#

Wow, that's pretty wild about the screw! At least it has a new home (???) and it's not rotting in a field somewhere. I do remember carving my initials into the ride op station with the rest of the crew!!

I wonder what made them send the screw away & not the double loop? Oh well.....

The DL is in a tight location. It would be diffacult to take it out and install anything of large size. GL knew in 1995 they wanted a hot new attraction (Mind Eraser) If truth was known the 2 removal choices were DL or the Screw. When looking at how quick they could get rid of one of the 2 the Screw was the obvious choice. Not only was the screw a hotter comodity it was in the better location for a total renovation.

^Sort of funny that you bring up how tight the DL location was since Villain was practically shoehorned in to that even tighter spot (I realize that CCI and others of its kind were not around back then).

I know many have great sentiments of the Corkscrew but hands down Double Loop was always the better ride between the two.

I guess that is what i was trying to say just couldn't get the words out!!!!
The space around the DL was useable just not at the current time technology. I agree the DL was a better coaster. There was more room around the screw with it being easier to sell

There are days I really miss the screw. I have to say DL could put a happy face on me no matter how many times I rode it even though it wasn't the biggest steel coaster in the park, but it had to been a pretty smooth arrow coaster. Smile

Ouch. It was just left to rot in some field somewhere? That stinks. It was my favorite ride too.

I remember during the last season it operated (which was the 2002 season, I think), where the ride was even faster than usual. The theming and everything was completely gone, but the ride itself seemed to have been kicked into overdrive.

However, they only ran the ride for about a minute and 15 seconds each cycle that season. I never figured out if it was because of how fast it was going or what. My mom dang near got sick on it that year when she rode it. She wasn't expecting it to kick so hard. lol

On another note, the theming the ride used to have was pretty nice (I remember seeing famous musicians like Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin painted on the mural inside the ride), and they played lots of oldies on it too. Ah, the good old days.

Yeah, is the Muzik still sitting in a field up there?

If so, then that's at least one piece of the park that'll be around for a while.  If they haven't moved it off-site by now...  Razz

I have no idea...apparently it was sitting in a field behind the park somewhere near WWK. I never got to see the remains of it, however, until one member in this thread posted a picture of it. I don't know if it's still there or not. I'd say probably not.

That was such a great ride, too, but I guess Six Flags stripping the ride of all its beauty and running the ride for very short cycles was kind of foreshadowing its demise.

Yeah, I know where it is... I saw it last year & went up to it; not realizing exactly what it was (well I knew it was a ride but not which one). As of last year it was in the field as you pull into the old Sea World parking lot over to the right after you pay. They don't want you going over there, as we got followed & yelled at about being there; well they can yell all they want I just gave it right back um..told them to call the Aurora police b/c I wasn't about to comply with a CF "security guard" LOL.

So it was still over in that area last time you checked? Hmm, that's kinda strange. You'd think they would have found it over there while building WWK and got rid of it or something. Still, thanks for telling us.

I still hate the fact that they let that ride rot there for so long.....and then CF destroys any chance of us riding what was possibly the fastest and most fun (well, that I'd ever ridden, anyway) Musik Express ride ever. Or any of their other awesome rides, for that matter.

Yeah, it was there as of last season... I bet it's still there. I live 5 minutes away, I will go check later. It is off into the distance of the parking lot, where nobody goes. Also, I remember as a kid just past the railroad tracks, on Brewster Rd. to the left, the old Sea World used to dump unused euipment there, I bet some items are over there to. I am a local & used to as a kid walk all around those areas wher I shouldn't have been.

Kennywood just refurbished theirs! Its a beautiful ride, especially at night. Nice long ride cycle and runs full out!

Below is a picture of Kennywoods at night.
