ElDorado is The Mirage just with different themeing. I don't think this ride was for sale so I have no idea what its fate will be.
I do have pictures of Mirage before it was transformed into ElDaroado by Six Flags which I will post later. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

Thanks coasterDAD for the info. I'll just have to be patient for your uploads on the site, no big deal. One other thing, in another forum it sounds as though some are giving up,why?
It just seem to easy to give up, ain't that what CF wants. _________________ (ACFG)Anti-Cedar Fair Group |

I'm curious about this "giving up" thing. This is the third time I've heard people comment that we're giving up.
A) The park has been closed.
B) The bids on the land have been accepted.
C) The rides have been auctioned.
D) WWK is tanking - either we're killing it with a boycott or Dick was wrong about what the real draw at the park was.
E) Scrap companies are already pulling apart the park.
F) Dick won this battle.
It's not giving up to accept reality.
Unless you won the lottery last night and plan to re-purchase everything, all we can do now is preserve our memories, hope some of our favorite rides do not end up as Honda bumper mounts, and work as much as possible to save The Dipper.
Consider the "phases of grief":
1.) Shock
2.) Denial
3.) Bargaining
4.) Guilt
5.) Anger
6.) Depression
7.) Resignation
8.) Acceptance
Then consider the "tasks of grief" councellors use:
1) Tell the story
2) Express the emotions.
3) Make meaning from the loss.
4) Transition from the lost memory to new interests. _________________ Positions Held:

Thats a nice reply, BellaCroix, but really what I was talking about is giving up on the dipper and finding out whats going on with the land that is for sale! I want to know who's buying the land and why CF is supposedly still going to have control over the land they sale!
Also, it's about trying to not give up on finding out stuff new and trying to prevent other thing's from happening that we may have power to stop! Just cause we all have lives to live, doesn't mean nothin, cause those rich idiot's that run CF also have lives, but still find time to fight us!(Those who give up are weak at heart and soul)
Would you stand there and do nothing if somebody pulled a gun out and shot someone you love,No! Well, just cause they shot down are geauga Lake, doesn't mean we have to give up. Thats all I'm saying!

It's actually very common for a company to keep control of a property after they've closed it. Ususally this means maintaining ownership of the property and allowing it to lay unused.
When a retail company I used to work for moved down the street to a new building they held the lease on the old building for an additional 5 years and turned down offers for other businesses to move in because they didn't want local competition. They held that lease until someone from a completely different industry eventually expressed interest.
Once the sale goes through CF will not have control of the property any longer (although there may be something in the sale agreement regarding land use or re-sale). More than likely they're looking to accept bids from condo developers or golf courses: businesses that can (and will) make full use of the available land and would not benefit from having a coaster as neighbor.
We're all interested in what's happening to The Dipper and I don't think any of us have let up on our interest in that but until the company that bought it releases information there's not a lot that pestering them is going to help. _________________ Positions Held:

Sounds about what Giant Eagle did here in Streetsboro when they moved into the old TOPS (but newer building) store. They still hold the lease on the old building but won't let anyone else in.
I don't think anyone has given up, I think it's more resigning ourselves to what has happened and trying to preserve as much in memory and maybe memoribilia as possible. |

Speaking of Giant Eagle and Tops, anyone familier with the story on the Ravenna Ohio Tops Giant Eagle deal? A lady that worked for giant Eagle lived in a house on the land Tops wanted to purchase to build their store. Giant Eagle was paying her to not sell. Finally Tops offered her A huge amount of money for her property and she sold. Giant Eagle fired her, Tops gives her a job and now guess what. No more Tops!!! I never pays to be the middle man.
I remember the advertisements for the Mirage, They hyped and advertised that ride as much as the Wave was when it was new. My first time seeing the Mirage at the park I was like WTF? It was never a ride that impressed me, I always considered it a waste of money. But hey everyone has their opinion.
As far as Geauga Lake goes I agree totally with BellaCroix. The park is gone.
The rides are gone. Hell the land is gone. Just because it's our home park doesn't mean it will be around forever. Conneaut, Chippewa, Idora, Euclid Beach, Brady Lake. These were all someone's "Home" Park. but now they are gone. To be totally honest $5,000 is really not alot of Money. I would say 80% of the older members of this site could raise that if needed to Or may even have it in the bank. We all care about the Dipper. But what are we going to do with it? I don't see it fitting on my 1 acre in Kent. And the tear down, removal, transport, and rebuild would be more trouble and money than it's worth. _________________ Remember......Fan Boys and Haters are always good for one thing.
