i was out by the park today.over on depot street they have some of the dipper cars against the fence.it was sad they just sat out there in the rain. there was also one double loop car and the nets and some spare parts to the happy harbor nets. i  went over to the gift shop to look around and they have some geauga lake  stickers that would have gone on the garbage can flaps so they are a nice size

OKAY  who's got a pick up truck???  Lets go get a Double Loop car!!!!

I'm new to this stuff. How do they take down a steel/wood coaster when it's going to be scrapped? I hate to see Villian be scrapped. It's a great coaster and will be missed by all people that visited GL. Have they finished taking out Grizzly Run? How many people does Cleveland Scrap have working inside the park? They are clearing out this stuff in a hurry. Has anything happened with RWB or BD yet? I don't think I want to go by the park for awhile until things calm down. I don't want to to see the deconstruction. It's too upsetting to see this happening to my home park.

Just to clarify: The Double Loop AND the trains AND the signs were sold to Cleveland Scrap. They took most of the train coaches away. The one that remained was traded to a fellow who bought a bunch of the go carts.

The guy from CS said that the signs may be "donated" but i'm not sure to who (historical society i assume).

When scrapping/more deconstruction of the rest of the park starts...will anyone be taking pictures of its final demise?

As much as I hate that this is happening I do sort of want to see the photos too. It is unfortunately the end of the road for Geauga Lake and I want to 'see it to the end' if that makes sense. I thik since I dont live very close it will give me some closure. I think I am still in denial that it is really happening.

Agreed! Well now I know where they're ending up. I just wanted to know what their fate was, and if anyone saved that cool sign on the station. I've had chances at Arrow cars in the past and never had room for one, but I think I'd make an exception for DL. Would make interesting home theatre seats!

Does this mean the new owner of the Big Dipper made the "excecutive decision" to remove the trains from the weather-protected station and have them sit along a fence outdoors where they may be vandalized and/or stolen?

Agreed... and it would be even better if they were posted someplace prints could be ordered from - and even better if they weren't covered in watermarks.

Sorry... I'm stuck working on this scrapbook and taking prints to Wal*Mart with watermarks all over them kinda ruins the scrapbook.

Heh.

I drove by today and noticed men taking apart the Shark Attack slides...finally the "eye sore" is coming down, lol.  CF left it rot for a couple years and now a company buys it after it looks like crap.  In the back, the Happy Harbor pieces are still sitting there and the BD cars rotting in the elements.  Why doesn't someone cover the cars?  CF just makes one stupid mistake after another...do they care about coasters AT ALL???

CF doesn't care about anything pertaining to GL. They want the park to be forgotten. They bought the park to close it IMO. Why are they working on the front of the park already? Has the stuff in the back of the park that was bought by Schlitterbahn been removed yet? When I was at the waterpark the other day the bees, scrambler, pirates flight, nets, star castle voyager, tea cups, and ferry boats were still at the park. I wish they would have left Happy Harbor open this season for the water park. We have lost everything and it's very hard to accept.

^ I couldn't agree more. It sucks they have to close the ride side down, but for what reason did they need to close Happy Harbor down. Those rides could have been left operating this season along with the theater and the simulator. It sure doesn't seem WWK is quite they draw all their research told them it was.

The only explanation is that they want to get that stuff out of the way so its easier to unload just the waterpark next year.
