If you check out the OnPoint! Blog they have posted a new entry about giving prizes out to people in line. Does this sounds familiar to anyone else?

http://ww3.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/index.cfm

Can we saw Disney's Year of a Million Dreams? CP blatantly is ripping off the idea from Disney. I posted on their blog. It was submitted for approval, but I guarantee that it won't be posted.

They are trying their damndest to get people into the park. OMFG Free chips? Holy crap sign me up!

Whatever.

Funny isn't it, Katie?  Looking back over the years, when "other park chains" (their name rhymed with Hicks Bags) tried concepts such as "giving away the gate" and other promotions to increase attendance, some folks and certain websites said it just "reeked of desperation" and how Cedar Fair would never have to resort to such tactics.

Stock prices are down to their lowest in years (waiting for the inevitable "but Ray, every company is down right now, don't you watch the news?"... wahhh, tell someone who f'ing cares), attendance at the almighty flagship is down ("but Ray, gas prices are high, people aren't traveling as much and the weather has been crappy"... again, tell it to someone who cares), and yet from what we are told, everything is just peachy at the Sandusky HQ.

Maybe I need to take a business course this fall along with my other courses so that I too can learn how this is a good thing for a company.  Perhaps Advanced Spin 101, which I see has a prereq of Bullsh!tting Techniques 1 and 2.

I'd better set my alarm early if I want to get one of those grills.  I'll be able to grill half a hot dog on that whopper.

Ray P.  (who notes that this wasn't directed in any way towards Katie.  I like her style of posting!)

I was down in Disney back in march. I wonder if cp is giving away "GOOD" gifts like Disney did, or what I'm thinking a small bag of potato chips or something cheap like that.

Guys, be nice, part of the July 4 extravaganza will be a celebration of one of Ohio's oldest rides.

There will be "special displays and souvenirs commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad, one of the park's oldest existing rides."
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/080702/clw084.html?.v=86

Meanwhile at Geauga Lake the cars of the 12th oldest operating roller coaster sit out in the open, exposed to sun, rain and vandals.

Speaking of puking, has anyone noticed that Cedar Point has yet another tagline added to thir name?  In addition to "America's Roller Coast" and the ever-popular "Ride On", the latest CP commercials have "An American Tradition" tacked on.  We all know that Cedar Fair is all about tradition...

And I'd better not sign my name in my posts anymore.  I'd hate to be annoyingly redundant.

I've noticed that too, Ray, but Geauga Lake was known as "An American Classic" long before CF  bought the park.

Maybe CF should look up the word "tradition" in the dictionary to really understand what it means and not the "Dicktionary" they seem to utilize now.
