If you do, can you send me a PM? I am hoping to find somebody who has access to the parts of the park that are not developed yet. Long shot I know...maybe somebody in security or something?

You mean the "off-site" locations or the few acres here and there that were part of Geauga Lake/WWK but weren't developed into the park?

Before the land auction I had no idea how much land was actually owned by the park... the first time I saw the land auction map I thought, "Really, they owned THAT too?"

Sadly, noone is going to get you access to a construction site.

Last year I tried getting access to the park after the announcement and offered to pay a security guard's salary to escort me through the park to ensure I wouldn't damage anything.  I got a call from Bill Spehn explaining that they could not allow that due to insurance and injury exposure since the park had so much construction (destruction?) equipment at the time.  I explained that I am a P&C insurance agent and understand the exposure risks and would be happy to sign a waiver of claims should something happen, he still refused.

Still, why would you want to get into that area?  The stadiums are gone (and have been gone for a long time - since before Dominator's removal which can be clearly seen on Google Earth).

Checking Google Earth and comparing it to past maps about the only thing standing in that area (other than the old Aquarium) is the Asian Adventures/Pearl Diving building, part of a gift stand that stood outside of Penguin Encounter (although it might actually be Penguin Encounter - it's hard to tell), a restroom, a couple docks, and what appears to be an administration or maintenance building.

No Google Earth? Click Here for screencap.

If it's that important you're probably better off jumping a fence.  I find that humming the Mission Impossible theme song while trespassing makes it a lot easier and reduces the risk of getting caught by 28%.  Wearing commando BDUs and camo facepaint adds 3% more.  Dressing like the San Diego chicken however almost guarantees failure.  Very Happy

You will have a chance to see all of it in a year or two when the Wildwater Kingdom Auction Preview day comes about...

I'd actually like to see pictures of what's left myself.

I'm still not sure why they'd let that stuff sit, but pre-demolish everything on the other side of the lake when it won't be their land in a few weeks...  Oh, wait.  Razz

Why'd they let sit what they let sit?  Becuase it was all lakeside... take a look at what they left... EVERYTHING was visible from across the lake.  They knew they were closing Geauga Lake but wanted everyone to think it was all okay since all of the Sea World stuff was still okay... "see, just look across the lake, we've even left the Aquarium".

Demolishing everything that wasn't lakeside just helped their lies.

Look at the satelite image... even what you couldn't see from the lake that was still standing (i.e. the (maybe) Penguin Encounter) had been raped.  Whatever that building was is standing with no roof probably because they wanted to pull the insulation out of it for Dick's attic.

I dont even care if I personally get to go back there (although that would be cool) I honestly would just like some photos of what is still there. That area is where I spent a good part of 10yrs of my life and sadly I have very few photos of it. (and I know it would be sad to see the areas that have been demolished...but a good part of that area is still standing.)
