well, i know for a fact it was the first coaster to feature 2 CONSECUTIVE loops, but i do not know if it was the first coaster to feature just 2 loops. Coaster dad will probably be able to tell you. Scratch that, i KNOW he will be able to tell you. _________________ rewind...way before, to about 2004, and talk to Cedar fairs plans for geauga lake for the next couple of seasons and tell us what they say.. |

| I believe it was the first coaster with two loops of that kind made. I remember hearing about it years ago. Thats another reason it is so sad to let a coaster like that just be wasted. What a shame!!! |

...and the Corckscrew is now at MGM Dizee world in INDIA! It's just a standard layout arrow corckscrew... the double loop was designed and build special... and was a record breaker... and is being scrapped.
(rollercoaster database is amazing... how do they track this stuff!) |

| GLMemories89 is correct...the Double Loop was the first rollercoaster to have back-to-back loops! It was quite the thrill ride back in the day when this technology was brand new. I recall the coaster track was shipped to Aurora using the rail lines that run behind the park and seeing some of the parked train cars with track by the train station in Aurora. As it was constructed over the winter of 1976-1977 there was always traffic on Geauga Lake Rd. of families coming to witness the construction of this huge new rollercoaster. Being painted white originally made it appear even larger, again in 1977 having a 90' lift hill was considered huge! Double Loop was the big star of Geauga Lake behind Big Dipper for a long, long time...such a shame to loose such a significant piece of history. |

| Did the rail line (now abandoned) deliver other rides to the park? I was always curious if it ran passenger service to Geauga Lake. I can't ever recall those tracks being used, although perhaps they were prior to 1981 when i was born. |

The rail line did offer passenger service to GL at one time. That is actually how GL started because it was convenient to a rail line stop when people did not have cars. I believe the passenger service stopped being a viable mode of transportation to the park in the 30's when enough people had cars and no longer needed a train to get there. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.
In the end the truth will come out and we will then see whos laughing at who. |
