|
|
It has been announced that Cedar Fair will be dropping its Nickelodeon license that it took over when they bought the Paramount parks. I assume most of those themed areas will become similar to Planet Snoopy or Camp Snoopy, wow how exciting!
It would be interesting to see how the Cincinnati/Santa Clara/Richmond/Charlotte/Toronto media would react to this news and press the park(s) for details, especially in Cincinnati considering that Kings Island has been voted the number one children's play area of all seasonal amusement parks! Families in southern Ohio flock to that park because of the kid's area and I believe losing Nickelodeon is going to be a major blow at all the former Paramount Parks. I wonder how happy they are now that CF took over.
This is yet another Dick Kinzel decision because he is too cheap to pay the licensing fee for Nickelodeon, the Peanuts license fee is much cheaper thus his decision to implement Snoopy/Peanuts at all of the parks now. It is also why I say Dick lives in the 1970's, he doesn't see the value that can come from maintaining the Nick characters which is what this generation (and future generations) of children relate too!! _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.
In the end the truth will come out and we will then see whos laughing at who. |

| Where did you read that? If it is true, it will have a major impact on the future of KI. The advertising alone with the Nick characters was a big hit. Kids love Nickelodeon...they could care less if Snoopy was hit by a car. I hope this isn't true, because I even loved going to KI for the Nickelodeon Universe. It is the one thing that made the park unique. First the Son of Beast lost its loop, then the Racer no longer goes backwards, now the Nickelodeon area may go...what could be worse...other than what happened with GL. |

Do you see a pattern! CF is trying to ruin other parks and there history, so Cedar Point will be the only oldest park in the world. They only care for Cedar Points History and no one else. There should be a law agianst this, oh wait there is, Monopoly! at least thats what it looks like Cedar Fair is trying to do. Just another Time Warner Company to me. High Prices, crappy cable, channels come and go due to updates on the boxes everyday. See a trend here, like CP, High Prices,Long Lines, Rides working and not working. _________________ (ACFG)Anti-Cedar Fair Group |

| I will be upset if Nickelodeon is dropped. I think Snoopy is outdated and Dick is stuck in the 1970's. The kids love Nick they don't know who Snoopy is anymore. I hope if they get rid of Nick they should bring back HB. |

[sarcasm]What are you talking about? Cedar Point is "An American Tradition" and the reason that Kings Island turned the backwards Racer around (according to the Press Release) was to celebrate the rich 36 year history of the park. Not to mention Cedar Point is home to Ohio's oldest operating wooden roller coaster. How can anyone say that Cedar Fair doesn't respect history? Sigh. [/sarcasm] |

It would probably be cheaper to keep the non converted kids areas as Hanna Barbera areas. Paramount spent a lot at KI and Carowinds to transform those areas.
I agree Snoopy isn't the greatest choice, even the Bernstain Bears that CF parks used to have are more known than Snoopy. |

Two words: BIG MISTAKE! Here we go with more sterilzation of the former Paramount Parks.
Nickelodeon is a gold mine, at least from what I've seen at Kings Island the past few years. What's Kinzel going to tell the four year old who's looking for Dora - "Sorry, kid, we're too cheap to keep her around anymore. You can go see Lucy."
Kid's response: "Lucy who?" _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

Ahh, what will the great old minds @ CF think of next?
From what I remember, the attendance figures @ the ex-Paramount Parks weren't quite up to what they expected for the last 2 seasons. Haven't heard anything about this years figures, but we won't hear anything from headquarters good, bad or soso.
What can we expect for these parks after next season?
According to Cedar Fair CEO Dick Kinzel, they
underestimated the drawing power and impact of no longer
having "Nickelodeon", not giving enough credit to what
Paramount had done when they created the park.
Of course they don't get it, they still have that mentality that if they didn't think of it, it can't be right.
Me thinkith that they're in for a suprise. _________________ Money, power, fame: the roots of evil, and others heartache. |

Ok...I get that dropping the Nick License would save them money (which is probally good from company view), but what they arn't thinking about as usual is howh it will affect public attendance. Not everyone wants to go to see snoopy, but more likely to come if spoungebob or someone they know is there. All I will say is two words for cedar fair DUMB A$$'S. This will hurt them. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Hmmm, where have I heard that before? Like the old saying goes...
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
However I will give them some credit in that they have brought back some of the Hanna-Barbera characters for special events. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

I was a little surprised that they dropped the Nick licenses.
On our trip to Kings Island last year, kids and parents went nuts when Spongebob and Patrick showed up. I saw more pictures taken in that 15 minute period than all of the rest of the trip.
They had a money maker with those characters.
But, like usual, Cedar Fair could not find a way to monetize it.
Not only do they not think outside the box, they can't even find it. |

| Wow I thought it was dumb for them not to combine Snoopy and the Nick characters at Cedar Point. This is really dumb for them to drop, just like dropping the movie license for this year. |
